This isn't true.
People don't drink because it makes things worse. That'd be silly.
You take medication for whatever ailment you have that treats a symptom but not necessarily the cause. Alcohol does the same.
Don't get me wrong, it's an incredibly irresponsible long term solution and you need to address what's causing your anxiety, depression, dealing with your trauma, etc... but it definitely helps temporarily.

Every been around any of them? Did you catch it?

I’m at the stage in my life where drinking a beer or 2 instantly makes everything better. Call it what you will - I just love it.

I love to drink. An alcohol buzz is the best buzz there is.
However, I don't feel like drinking when things are going badly.
I like to drink to celebrate things or some things that went great!
But I'm old now and it takes a lot to get me to drink even when things are going great. If I simply used that for a measure I'd be drunk all the time. I just don't have the energy anymore to drink a lot.
I wish i did.

drinking can be pretty damn fun. not everyone that drinks heavily is downing bottles of vodka in their living room at 10am.
public celebrations and alcohol have been intertwined since the beginning of celebration.
how else is the hot shy chick gonna get out of her own head long enough to let one of us random assholes take her to poundtown?
it's a great social lubricant

If that's the best you can come up with then you just need to stay on the sidelines and let the men discuss this.

Yo, let's keep the personal attacks to yourself. I have my reasons.

I know several people who say ‘I’ve had a terrible day, I’m going to go home a light up’
But they keep telling me it’s not addictive

K. You bet.
Hearing people with ignorant, uninformed opinions about whether addiction is a disease always gives me and others a chance to practice forgiveness.

Umm, alcohol causes this. So drinking will never address this.

The fact you say former means you made a choice to no longer be this.

it seems you are equating infection with disease and I’m sure you don’t need me or anyone else to make you a list of all the non infectious diseases you can acquire.
yes the physical act of ingestion is voluntary but that’s as far as your analogy can travel under its own power
