I utilize the left lane all the time here on my morning commute. If I see someone "gaining on me" I'll move to the right lane. If we only used the 2 most right lanes it would create too much congestion.

Are you referring to an actual law or just etiquette?

It is an actual law. Driving in the left lane when you are not actively passing or preparing for a left turn is improper lane usage.

I see this stated a lot in this board, and it confuses me. I've lived in texas for the last 3 years and have had zero issues with left lane drivers here.

Now when I go back to Louisiana to visit, it's horrendous. Louisiana license plates just joy riding in the left lane.

Mississippi is a drivers paradise. Good roads. Good driver. Courteous people. For a safe that is stereotyped az uneducated and heavily black they know the rules of the road. So it isn’t that. It’s the states that have the so say “education” .

You’ve lost your mind. Mississippi drivers are terrible.

A woman I know drives 55 in the left lane because she says it’s smoother. Somebody’s going to road rage her one of these days……or she’s gonna kill somebody in an accident.

I drive in the left lane because the people behind me know I'm in control of their speed. And I know, they know, I'm in control.

It's everywhere. I'm shocked that I see old people doing it as well as sub 30.

Its really bad in Texas. Not so much in east Texas which is about the same as the east coast but in West Texas folks will stay in the fast lane doing the speed limit or less and will not get over ever. I have been told it was due to deer and hawgs and javelina but they are just as likely to come from the median as the shoulder of the road and most of the highways in west texas have plenty of shoulder with no vegetation...so much so that at one time if you were on a 2 lane and someone came up behind you it was expected that you'd move over onto the should so they could pass without getting in the other lane. I don't know why it is but if you in West Texas and there is not another car in sight chances are when you see one it will be in the left lane running the speed limit or less...

South Carolina has a law that requires slower traffic to keep right...the problem is they do not define what slower is. They do not mean the speed limit...if its 70 and the flow of traffic is going 85 they mean anyone going under 85. This leads to all manner of ill shite. It should be illegal to drive in the left hand lane unless you are passing someone and most commercial vehicles should be banned from the left lane on a 4 lane highway. Just get the frick over....

In Texas, it's either a Mexican grandma or $30k millionaire baw cruising in the left lane.

Oh yea. Good ole days of wooden ships and iron men. Not like today’s pussies driving EV’s and hybrids with their masks on.

I just drove 20 hours plus in Texas over the holidays and I definitely noticed several slowpokes just humming along in the left hand lane.

I also keep a cruising speed of 7 mph over the speed limit and 82 is definitely not enough to justify hanging out in the left hand lane. Which kind of surprises me.

Then cops better start writing themselves tickets because there’s plenty of prick cops that camp in the left lane.

But honestly why even live in Texas if that’s the case?

I work in Oil and Gas. Houston is the center of the universe for that industry.
