Why do people waste money on watches?

I can understand having an apple watch, something that can track health markers, like heart rate and blood pressure or amount of steps taken.
But I always get a chuckle out of baws paying mutiple hundreds or thousands of dollars for something that just tells time. Nothing more than a status symbol, considering everyone in this day and age has a device in their pocket that tells time. It reminds of the baws that feel the need to jack up their trucks. Must be compensating for something

Why do you care what other people do?

Boring, unoriginal take is boring and original.

Imagine being a grown adult and worrying about what other people spend their money on.

I think people who worry about how others spend their own money are fricking idiots, too.

You're right. I wear a Rolex day / date President. I could keep time with my iPhone but the Rolex is a piece of jewelry and a pretty nice one.

Man.. you liberals are strange people. You are always worried about how hard working Americans spend their money

I have a cousin that is "into" watches. Its the most boring shite having to listen to him talk about his recent acquisition and the next one he's thinking about "investing" in.
I hate watches for this reason alone.

Watches are a lot like titties. Once you see one, you want to see them all.
Never thought I would be a watch guy, then a few months ago I got my first one, and now I am addicted.

What do you waste money on?

I’ve never worn a watch in my life but if a nice watch makes you happy what would I care? It’s a timepiece, it’s jewelry and it can be an investment. I think a nice watch looks good though it’s not for me, so I don’t concern myself with what others like or spend their money on
If I told you what I’ve spent on concert tickets and associated travel this year you’d call me an idiot too

You are correct. And it says that my status is someone who appreciates a nice watch. Just because that isn’t your status there’s no reason to hate on some else’s. Maybe you are compensating for something??

Why do you care if someone can quickly tell time? Who care if they spend $50 or $5,000? I would never spend more than $125-ish on a watch, but I'm happy if it makes someone else happy. There are more important things to worry about.

OMG other people like things I don't like therefore they're stupid!!

because an automatic watch's engineering is fascinating and I'm autistic.

Because I like wearing a watch. The frick you care?
