I think it’s a feeling of nostalgia. It reminds everyone of their youth when things were simple, before life hits you in the face.

I am at the beach right now and when I get home I have a swimming pool in my backyard.

when the kids were younger I was all about summer. Now that they are grown and moved on, I could do without cutting the grass, sweating my arse off, and dealing with the crowds on vacation. I much prefer hunting season, cool weather, fall gardens, football, and traveling while others are home with their kids in school

Pretty sure nobody likes that part.

Because the kids are out of school and the schedule is not so crazy, for one. Even if they're going to "camp" every day, they won't have homework and projects.

But even before having kids, it's just my favorite time of the year. Love the beach, grilling by the pool, long days, walks after dinner, everything is green, crape myrtles, and the generally slower pace of life. And...basically I can't stand being cold. It's miserable.

I feel like each comment needs a BMI attached. Fluffier people typically have a hard time cooling off and self-regulating.

Summer in most of the South blows. It's the worst season of the 4.

The only positives are my kid being out of school and less traffic. Everything else about it sucks.

I worked offshore for a drilling company with many co workers from the Northeast and Maine. We would have to take classes to upgrade jobs during our time off, and sometimes had corporate meetings as well. Those dudes refused to do any of that during the summer. They would say "No bro that's my summer" and set themselves back because of it. Then one guy is showing me his watersports boat one day and tells me he only gets to use it a few months in the summer because it gets too cold too quickly.

People up north embrace it. I like it because school is out and qe are taking trips. Yes the heat sucks but I deal with it.

I loved summer as a kid. Baseball. Swimming. Girls. No school. Heat didn't really bother us. Good times.

Now I hate it. Swamp arse. Hurricanes. Mosquitos. Hotter than the seventh circle of hell.

Long days, sunset at 8 pm, pool, kids vacation, 4th of July, hot dogs and burgers.
Crank the a/c!

I dread summer. Hate it. The air is thick and stale, cant hardly breathe. I visited Colorado last year, thought I died and went to heaven(dispensaries' made it better).

being able to mess around in the yard until 9pm if I want, getting drunk in the pool, wearing sundresses

I'm basically a tropical lizard and I absolutely get why many people hate it, but it's my jam

Speaking for Finns here, but it's like dragons, unicorns, a government concerned about your well-being, and other mythical things, it simply does not exist, so people fantasize about it.

it's not 95 degrees w/ high humidity everyday in most of the country

I get that but so many people in the South mention how they love summer too. If it’s a kid (or teacher) I also get it, because summer vacation. But everyone else down here I don’t understand why so many love summer

You know better than that. Teachers really only get a week off during the summer because they're so busy with getting their classrooms ready for the new school year

90+ degree weather every single day, humidity in the 50-70% range on a daily basis, termites, roaches, rain every single afternoon, grass that grows 100x faster than in the fall/winter, hurricanes, no more football, no more crawfish, having to wear formal clothing in summer temperature, elevated energy costs due to said temperature.

What's not to love?

As I’ve gotten older, I’m becoming more intolerant of the summer in Mississippi and New Orleans. It seems endless and then the storms come. It should be a holiday when that first cold front comes in the Fall.

I’m getting an RV ready to sell, and yesterday I was drenched in sweat even wearing breathable paper thin clothes.
