Can you spot the disingenuous part of the next quote?
"Foreign born" and "homogeneous" are not mutually exclusive. The authors are using these terms dishonestly.

And what’s more, Nordic countries are not exactly homogeneous. Around 8 per cent of the Finnish population is foreign-born, about the same percentage as in Denmark, where 7.5 per cent is foreign. That’s not that different from countries such as France, where immigrants make up around 10 per cent of the population.

define immigrant.
French, Swedish, Dutch, German, and Swiss immigrants to a Nordic country are very different than Sudanese immigrants to a Nordic country.

Go mill around in Maine and you’ll see the same thing

The face that France has 12+ times the population of those countries?

Liberal values are key: progressive taxation and freedom to make life choices
So, we’re back to money.
Researchers have come up with a strong link between progressive taxation - a tax rate that increases as the taxable amount increases - and people’s assessment of how happy they are.
Progressive taxation leads to happiness via public and common goods such as health care, education, and public transportation that the taxation helps to fund. And ultimately, you guessed it, trust. People trust the money will be used and distributed wisely.
Again, in more equal societies, people trust each other more. And social trust contributes to the building of better institutions.
this is their conclusion.

Exactly.
"Immigrants" in Finland are from Sweden and Russia, not Africa or the Middle East.

A 50%+ tax rate for income over $60,000 USD?

Difference is in these countries, the governments actually provide a lot for everyone, not just taxing the rich as a subsidy for the indigent and people that are working the welfare system for generations.
ETA:
For the record, I am not a proponent of taxation that high

I just can't stand it when people in the US use those places as examples of high taxes working out. The demogrpahics/populations are just way too fricking different.

] As of 2022, there were 508,173 people with a foreign background living in Finland (9.1% of the population), most of whom are from the former Soviet Union, Estonia, Somalia, Iraq and former Yugoslavia.[212] The children of foreigners are not automatically given Finnish citizenship, as Finnish nationality law practices and maintain jus sanguinis policy where only children born to at least one Finnish parent are granted citizenship. If they are born in Finland and cannot get citizenship of any other country, they become citizens.[213] Additionally, certain persons of Finnish descent who reside in countries that were once part of Soviet Union, retain the right of return, a right to establish permanent residency in the country, which would eventually entitle them to qualify for citizenship.[214] 476,857 people in Finland in 2022 were born in another country, representing 8,6 % of the population. The 10 largest foreign born groups are (in order) from Russia, Estonia, Sweden, Iraq, China, Somalia, Thailand, India, Vietnam and Turkey.[215]

Nordic countries as well as states like Maine here are great fodder for both sides
Left team
They are happy and so well run because they are liberal
Right team
They are happy and so well run because they lack diversity
Sling shite commence

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about and have no family friends that live in "Nordic" countries and the issues they have with Pakistani/middle east/African immigration

They have problems with the very small group that goes there. But their 10% immigrant population is not the same as the immigrant population in France. That's the point.
