Most studies suggest dogs do love their owners.

Maybe your pets just don’t like you. Sorry bitch.

And based on your posts, my dog gets saved from a burning house before you.

Isn't it just that humans develop an attachment to other humans and to animals we're familiar with and like to be around?

We might try to care as much about a random stranger as a pet we feel a bond with, but I think that's mostly an act to convince ourselves or others.

Kind of like how you can feel bad about a large number of people starving somewhere far away, and maybe even donate money (but probably not even that), and then forget all about it and return to trivial daily activities with no lasting emotional connection to what's going on.

Adolf Hitler had a soft spot for animals. Look it up. He loved dogs and pets. He valued pet’s lives over human lives.

Sounds like many of you here have this in common with Hitler.

Why? Why should I care more about random people I don't know than my pets or other animals? How does that make someone a narcissist? It has nothing to do with one's self seen value.

Unless there's a dog version of Hitler out there, I think you're over playing your hand here.

I call it the Disneyfication of animals. They gave animals names and personalities and people now seem to think animals should have the rights humans have. The boomers in my parents generation didn’t have the love affair for animals like people do now.
