Why are people so torn up over dogs? Do they feel the same way about every other species in the animal kingdom, or just the cute fluffy ones?

Last I checked, I didn't have a special bond with a chicken or a cockroach.

Dogs loyalty toward man is exactly the same today as it was 1000 years ago. Nothing has changed here.

Additional question for clarity, if a random human I don't know commits a heinous act, does that mean I should love my wife or kids less? Surely you understand the unique connection between a human and his or her own pet, which wouldn't be the same generally for that person and any other animal on the planet. In other words, I don't give a shite about your dog. But I give a shite about mine.

Answers will vary but in the case of a dog if you come in drunk at 4 in the morning it doesn't bitch or ask you where you've been, it's just happy you're home
