LSU Is The Only Team In The Country To Rank Top-5 In Both Total Offense And Defense

LSU continues to put up some of the best numbers in college football on both sides of the ball.

Through five games, the Tigers rank No. 3 nationally in total offense at 547.8 yards per game and No. 2 in total defense, allowing just 220.6 yards per game.

LSU is the only team in the country ranked inside the top five nationally in both total offense and total defense.

The Tigers are also getting after opposing quarterbacks at an elite level.

LSU edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen leads the country with eight solo sacks, while freshman defensive tackle Deuce Geralds is tied for sixth nationally with five.

As a team, LSU ranks second nationally with 22 sacks, trailing only Tennessee with 23.

The offensive numbers received another major boost Saturday during LSU's 63-14 win over McNeese.

The Tigers ran a school-record 101 offensive plays and recorded a school-record 39 first downs while piling up 731 yards of total offense, the second-highest total in program history.

After dropping its SEC opener at Ole Miss, LSU has responded with dominant wins over Texas A&M and McNeese as the Tigers prepare to return to conference play Saturday at Kentucky.
