People in the US also hate walking, even if it is faster or more convenient. It’s a lot easier to get around without driving in Europe too

Once in a while I go to Trader Joe’s. For some reason, I thought the food was healthier, as well. It isn’t. I read some labels. Palm oil and other ingredients in a lot of stuff. A lady next to me was also reading labels and tossing stuff back, grumbling. Can’t escape it unless from scratch. Sad what the fda allows in our food.

Isn’t that bad for you. Better than canola oil, vegetable oil, and grape seed oil, etc.

Greater emphasis on prevention instead of treatment in countries with socialized medicine. In those countries people may wait 9 months, or more, for something non-emergent. So, yes, they’re probably healthier societies from this perspective.

Obesity
There is zero debate to be had. It is common knowledge that obesity leads to dramatically shorter lifespan. And the US is one of the most obese countries in the world.

Because America does everything better than the rest of the world.
Unfortunately that includes eating, gang warfare, and overdosing. So it brings our average down.

Americans work substantially more hours and do not go to Doctors offices every time we sneeze like people in other industrialized nations do because they have nearly unlimited time off to do so. Low income people and poor people in other industrialized nations have access to health care which is easier to access than the same level of care in the US...and they also have unlimited time off, or nearly so, if they are ill where low income workers in the US have NO paid sick leave - Nealy 35% of Americans have NO sick leave while less than 4% of Europeans have none.
There is also the fact that health care is a right in most of the Industrialized world and as such costs the taxpayers...to manage those costs they do things like build walking paths, community swimming pools, and have workplace benefits that reimburse employees for gym memberships and excercise equipment. With Americans all on their own for their health care costs we ain't gonna spend a penny on a walking path unless it is ours.
The main reason that Americans live slightly fewer years than others is we are the world's parents and the rest of the world are a bunch of spoiled teens living in our basement and bitching about the internet speed and the cable package. No one wants to discuss that but when we spend as much as we do on keeping the world relatively safe and open to conduct business we not only miss an opportunity to pay the bill to live a little longer we allow others to pay more toward living longer because they ain't paying nearly as much to ensure relative peace.

obesity, better food
I’ll agree with obesity but argue that the food is better here. You don’t have the massive amounts of processed food in the European countries I’ve visited. The food is fresh. Every time I go over there I lose a little weight.
People in Europe also walk a ton more than most Americans. A lot of Europeans ride bicycles as well.
