No shite though, Richard Wagner's anti-semitism likely influenced Hitler.

He hated communists. He literally said if Jews won't call out the communists among them then the whole has to go. That didn't stop 100,000 Jews from being in the Germany military though. Germany was sending Jews to places like Palestine until Britain stopped Germany forcing camps to be built.

If you honestly can't figure out who the communists/bolsheviks really are then I don't know what to tell you.

I haven't read through this thread, but Hitler was a huge proponent of the so-called "Stabbed in the Back" theory. The gist of the theory is that Germany didn't lose World War I. They were betrayed behind the lines by certain factory and business owners who just so happened to be Jewish.

It's widely accepted that Hitler's descent into madness began when he was rejected by an art school the budding painter had designs on attending.

He sure showed them. It's likely the grandest case of a guy going "Scoreboard" all over somebody's arse in the history of man.

Are you trying to say Hitler hated Jews because they supported/wouldn’t condemn communism?

Well, the Jews have been kicked around and hated for a couple of thousand years. There was plenty of anti-Semitism in Europe before World War I. Hitler felt that the Jews in government and business were one of the big reason why Germany lost World War I and signed the Treaty of Versailles. He felt that the German military was not defeated, but were stabbed in the back by Jewish-controlled interests in Germany.

I mean, there is a lot more to it than that, but that's the gist of it.

Correct. And one of the popular sentiments in Germany at the time, was that Jews were wealthy because they only did business with other Jewish people, to the detriment of Germany as a whole. Then combine that with the depression which amplified those sentiments.

He blamed the Jews and other minorities for Germany losing WWI

Another posted pointed out that there was already a widespread hatred for Jews in Germany at the time. I think the better way to see that move is that Hitler exploited that existing hatred of Jews, underlying nationalist shame for losing WWI and being humiliated by the Treaty of Versailles and its damaging reparations provisions by blaming the Jews for the defeat. It was a shrewd, if evil, political move that cemented his popular support. In addition to actual hate for the Jews, he also had political reasons for what he did.

That’s a theme throughout history for authoritarian governments. The higher ups pitting the “lower” people’s against each other to help them achieve power.

I have a copy of Mein Kampf. I read it probably 30 years ago. I’m sure he spelled it out in there. I can’t remember why his hate specifically, but I’ll look in the next couple weeks and respond to your post. Mein Kampf is probably available online for free.

Interesting aside, I’m reading The Forbidden Territory by Dennis Wheatley, 1930. One of the main characters is Jewish and is casually referred to as a member of a separate race. I think maybe most of Christian based western culture considered Jews as acceptable or maybe tolerable outsiders in those days.

Some quick background, ethnic Jews have always been seen as different because they are not native europeans, Semites are not part of the broad Indo-European family tree. So over the centuries jews in Europe were an easy target, they've always been outsiders.

In 1917 the Russian Revolution began which was led by "Communist" (marxist, use whatever word you want) thought. Some of major thought leaders of Communism, and some of those with the most sway, were Ethnically Jewish. You go through the list of names you know of the top guys. Marx, Lenin, Trotsky, and many more people of Jewish ancestry.

(Fun Fact: Stalin was not a fan of Jews and thought Zionism was an evil against socialism.)

After WW1 Germany was embarrassed. Hitler, as an Ethnic German, took this personally. The country was in disarray and marxism was spreading like wild fire. Across Europe you had large pockets of Communism in Spain, France, Italy, and others. Particularly in Germany though, that was the thought hub of Communism/Marxism. Marx & Engels (His Bremen based education might have been the birthplace of it all.)

Germany was in a period called the Weimar Republic tl;dr, it was bad. Communists and other political groups would fight in the streets, breadlines, hyperinflation... Hitler believed that the Jews were selling out Germany, he saw what happened in Russia, and he saw the same exact things starting to happen in Germany. He did not want the bolsheviks to destroy Germany. He didn't see the Jewish community "standing up" for German values as a whole. The whole stab in the back idea of WW1 was huge.

When you see riots at home led by "Jewish" ideas, you see a Great empire fall to "Jewish" ideas, you see Jews not standing up for their own country, you can easily go full radical [see how most people on here view liberals, view them how Hitler viewed Jews].

The prevalent evil that was upon Germany just had a very Jewish taste, it is why many Germans simply did not care about any atrocity that happened to the jewish community.

The big tl;dr - hitler and many germans did not see the jews as standing up for the same values they believed in.

The whole "Hitler was a loser! He didnt even get into art school!" take is funny.

Dude fricking took over a country and then used that country to take over half the world. And was worshipped like a deity by his countrymen in the process.

Sure it ended badly and he was in the top .001% of evil in human history.....but we got dudes on the OT calling him a loser now? lol. Thats pretty funny.

How many American boys do you figure would have been killed using US military linear infantry assault tactics on German trenches built over looking the Rhine River? A whole lot.

Those theories are just so dumb. Hitler hated jews because his dick was small, because a jew denied him from art school... takes away from what actually happened

The Poles were a close second in hating the Jews. When the Germans were destroying the Warsaw Ghetto, the Polish resistance stood by & offered zero help. Despite begging for help by the embattled Jews. And then when the camps were liberated & Polish Jews began returning to their homes, 1000's were killed by their homes' new owners. Imagine surviving Auschwitz & then being killed on your former doorsteps.
