It's pandering. But, by all means, go see that shitty movie every day until it leaves theaters. It was made for people like yourself.

Why does Disney feel the need to pander to black people, LGBTQ, and groomers?

Because those are paying customers

Because they are grown, emotionally stunted children.

It'll be hilarious to see this thing flop and Disney having to send it to Disney+ within two weeks of opening weekend. It'll be worse than Lightyear. I hate to tell them but Disney's target market is not now, nor was it ever, nor will it ever be little black girls. White women have run that show since it's inception and will continue to do so.

Funny part is probably a large majority of the male poster population of this site wouldn't watch the movie no matter the race of the Ariel character.

so it will be HUGE commercial success like the other movies they pandered to LGBTQ's and blacks, like "Lightyear"?

will this help them recover the 40% market cap they've lost in the last 12 months?

The only people that should be upset with the movie are Disney...

because they somehow managed to make underwater effects somehow look worse than DC did. They let DC out do them.

Well it’s not just one movie. They keep throwing out the gingers.

And let’s not pretend there isn’t an attack on white people. We cause everyone’s problems, even how fat a woman is.

Because people look at it as a form of plagiarism. Imagine if you go to another country or culture and change their race of characters of their stories. I'd imagine they wouldn't like it.

This is a good point.

Well, heck, I thought the fuss was about the safety of little children of color. In NOLA and along the Gulf Coast, the children who can swim are mostly white. Every year we'd read about children of color drowning when they'd wade in water and find out the dead way that it was deeper than they were tall.

Even if it saved one adult life. Some melanin-rich guys were fishing on Pontchartrain one night and their outboard motor backfired and blew the cowling off. All five of them panicdd and jumped in the water. No PFDs were worn. None could swim. All drowned.

I’ve had some phenomenal gumbo from white women. I don’t know what the frick you are talking about. I’ve got a golden pot under my belt and you best believe my kids will be learning to make proper gumbo.

Is she the best one for the job? If so, then I do not care. On the other hand, did she get the job because of her ethnic background more than her skillset? I still don't care, but it's definitely BS.

To be fair, I don't think anyone asked for this. As I wrote yesterday, it's easy for Disney to re-skin an existing story out of pure laziness.

Why employ writers to craft new characters and stories, like Tiana , when they can just lazily use existing IP. Disney gets people fighting about race and doesn't really have to work on new products. It's a win/win for them.

Yes...that would be a stupid idea...Harriet Tubman was a real black woman, just like Alexander Hamilton was a real...wait a minute...

that's where I am on it. In my opinion it is far more important to have a voice match than a white girl who can't sing just because the original aerial is white. I would have gladly taken a black girl who can sing over Emma Watson's atrociousness when they remade beauty and the beast.
