How do you include these but not Tennessee?

This is the answer though

South Carolina is the only one I don't necessarily think of as deep south

I'm in no way against it being categorized like that, though

Regarding "old "south and Georgia, it's true but once you get 50 miles inland from the coast you are in Deep South territory. And that's the majority of the state.

To me the heart of the deep south is most of southern and central Alabama and Mississippi, together with southern Georgia up to the south metro (but excluding coastal Georgia).

I'd include north Florida too. South Florida is just a Yankee enclave.

As someone who has lived in various regions, if you dropped any non southern person in any SEC state, they’d think they’re in the “Deep South” by accents alone. I currently live in PA and the majority of people I’ve spoken to about where I’m from and the south in general couldn’t even draw the southern states correctly. They don’t know which states border which etc... it’s insane. I’ve heard many times “so where is Arkansas?” and I have to explain the entire region basically.

There's only three. Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee are what I call the Old South. North Carolina, Virginia and Florida are what I call The Fake South.

Kentucky and West Virginia were never the South. Just because your people talk with a country accent doesn't mean you're the South. People have country accents in Ohio as well. Doesn't make them the South.

East Texas (east of I-45) and Lubbock are deep south. Rest of state not so much.

This isn't an opinion... You realize that right?

Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina are the deep south.
