Florida isn’t THE SOUTH. Southern in parts? Definitely.

There’s the whole Florida Cracker thing which is similar but different than the Scots Irish ancestry of most southern states.

As someone who lives in NC there is a definite different feeling when you cross the border into SC. It’s absolutely the deep South.

I feel like Memphis is in the Deep South but the rest of TN isn’t

Lubbock [is] deep south.

By far the dumbest post in this thread.

Not shockingly posted by a Longhorn.

That's because Memphis is really the capitol of the MS delta and for all intents and purposes is in MS, it is an accident of geography that it the high ground was where it was.

I was going to say the opposite. I’m from South Carolina and live in North Carolina. North Carolina is definitely the south. Your profile says Charlotte which might explain it. Charlotte is and has always been kind of bland and without identity.

I would only consider FL as part of the Deep South if you draw the line west of Panama City

You are cutting out a lot of baws. Live Oak I would say.

MS, AL, LA, GA are the states I immediately think of, then I’d go with AR & SC

If by bland and without identity you mean fast growing, a hub for business, and highly educated, I agree.

I’ll take the high paying jobs that move here on an almost daily basis over more genuine southern culture.

And I love most of SC. Especially Greenville/Upstate and Charleston. Columbia? Kinda of a dump
