Any number of west coast cities from Vancouver, Seattle, Portland down to San Diego. The SF Bay area is incredible for outdoor activities.

Went to Denver recently and was blown away by how such a big city can have such a slow relaxed feel to it

That's because of the weed.

Just got back from Boston and I was surprised how walkable the city is and how much outdoor activity space there is. Only problem is like Denver you only have a limited time of the year that you want to be outside.

Many of these answers, including Denver, don’t exactly fit.

I know a lot of the outdoor activities aren't in the actual city of Denver but I would consider anything less than a 45 minute drive from there to count as an outdoor activity for the city.

Austin, TX. Obviouly one of the best rated nightlife’s in America, countless festivals, music, etc.

Best BBQ in Texas

So many state and national parks and things to do within an hour of the city.

Central Texas lakes are the best bass fishing in Texas and the nation, natural springs, rock climbing, camping, tubing, etc. within the city limits are miles and miles of hiking, biking, and running trails.

I honestly can’t think of a better place to live. With that said, I hate cold weather so most of the other cities mentioned are out for me although they’re great too (Denver, Chattanooga, Salt Lake, etc)

How is Austin even in the same sentence?

Salt Lake

Portland, Oregon is up there.

Not a big city but Bend is literally in the middle of a huge outdoor playground.

Do they have any areas for heterosexual activities like duck hunting?

Possibly enjoying the outdoor activities surrounding Austin more than those surrounding Denver

Denver for sure.

Boston is great in that you can escape the city and be in Maine, NH, or Vermont very easily.

Aside from those already mentioned, Richmond. Protected riverfront with class iv rapids within city limits. Reasonable drive for day trips to the mountains or beach.

Denver and Asheville are standouts in this category for sure.

Duck hunting, a 99.99% male activity where the men grow beards in the winter in an effort to look more masculine than the next guy.

What kind of gay duck hunting are y’all doing where women are allowed?
