I truly did love not having much rain this summer.

The grass didn’t grow like crazy and there were no mosquitos.

Assuming it's motherfricking tiger mosquitos, it's because they are damned near indestructible. They can survive in temps below freezing and can breed in running water.

Some of the worst mosquitos I've seen were in Minnesota. It gets cold as hell there, but there are lakes and ponds everywhere. The warm weather months up there might be worse than Louisiana when it comes to Mosquitos.

They were pretty bad in Illinois but nothing like Minnesota. Wonder if it's the same breed.

Holy hell they are out with a vengeance in unreal numbers right now around my house in Mandeville. Why? It hasn’t been raining.

It's the same in BR. Between the skeeters and burning cane fields, it's not very pleasant to sit outside in the evening.

The largest number of mosquitos are found around swamps or ponded water. When that is not available, they start moving elsewhere.

So if I understand correctly you’re saying there aren’t more mosquitoes, they’re just venturing further away from their normal spots?

Iota, LA is the mosquito capital of the world. IDK if it's all the crawfish ponds there or what but they sure know how to grow em.

I used some bifen i/t on Monday.
Didn't expect much because the bottle was 8 years old.
I mixed 2oz per gallon

Sprayed the house and within 20mins they were all dead.
Kills ants, fleas and a bunch of others

Buy a gallon for $60

We have had an explosion down by our bayou. Problem is, it hasn't had water in months. I do not understand where the larva are growing.

Glad I saw this post, we have been having them really bad in north Dallas too. Worst season ever.

Do they even spray anymore or do we need a west Nile scare?

Those of you living in EBR Parish and are unaware- Mosquito Abatement will come out and spray around your home for free. Your taxes pay for the service; may as well use it. It helps. You have to call them from your home address, from what I remember. Not sure how the email policy works. Anyway, here's the link:

they are fierce for sure

went cut my grass in golden meadow and it was 12 noon and i was getting swarmed by them so bad i could hardly hold the steering wheel swatting at them on both arms at the same time. it was brutal.

and they were those small tiny ones but they were black, normally i see those small ones with tiger stripes, buy these were solid black

I accidentally killed all the goldfish in my pond. Now it's just a big mosquito production facility. All my fault.

I read the marsh fire is the reason. We are also noticing the mosquitos.

A few months ago it was the hottest summer ever

Then no rain

Low shrimp prices

Then it was saltwater intrusion

Now it’s marsh fires, fog and mosquitoes

Did you people just move to Louisiana?

I just read that the insects I grew up calling mosquito hawks don't actually eat mosquitoes
