I’d really like to move to Wyoming. It looks beautiful.

We moved to Fairhope a year ago, it checks all those boxes.
No it doesn’t. It’s the worst place in Alabama. Tell that to everyone you know.

Don't have any best places, but not interested in the left coast and cold winters (grew up in it).
May be the gulf coast still or along the MS valley somewhere.

there are several suburban areas around Houston that would be quantum leaps ahead of LA.
Interesting that you compare micro-areas around Houston to the entire state of Louisiana. I live in Old Metairie where crime is low, the neighborhoods are nice, I walk to restaurants and have easy access to everything a city has to offer.
There are plenty of great places to live in Louisiana, where the taxes (combined property and state income taxes) are reasonable. The Woodlands are nice, too.
BTW, I’ve lived in Metairie and on the Northshore my entire life. I’ve been robbed four times, twice in Houston, once in Metairie and once in Salt Lake City.

Northern San Antonio is great. It's gotten expensive though. Property values have gone up 30-40% in the past two years.

It gets 30 below in the populated areas of Wyoming about as often as it gets to 105 degrees in La. Its not often.

So close. If they could have snagged the Mall on Blulebonnet than maybe you’d be right. Especially right there near the J Alexanders. That’s the sweet spot.

but Western Kentucky is beautiful, has great scenery
Murray is a really nice town in the middle of nowhere. Both close enough, and far enough away from Memphis, Nashville, and St Louis

Not where I live, go somewhere else.

It is, but you have to be ok with withstanding brutal winters.

I'm also smart enough to know where not to go.
The fact that you have to post this is telling.

We just had a particularly cold little snap - it didn't get above -5 for four or five days, lows were usually -15 to -30. Dumped about ten inches one day.
It really isn't that bad as long as you are properly dressed. The only thing that fricks me is driving after constant freezing and thawing.

Utah is one of the GOAT states. Just look at the beautiful terrain, good climate, and favorable demographics.
