UT is one good head coach away. They have everything they need. Money, facilities, fan base, and tradition. Everything except a coach who can recruit and develop talent.

I walked the stadium this past Tuesday with one of the directors from the athletic development office.

The status quo is slowly being replaced at UT. Outsiders, hired guns if you will, are being brought in behind the scenes. Guys who must win to hang around. No more of the "he's a UT guy that can hang around because he is one of us.' A lot of the good ol' boy system died when Fulmer was shown the door last year.

Heupel will be good for 8-4 or 9-3 with the occasional surprise in a big game. He will get the program on solid ground, but it will take a top coach to get UT back over the hump.

By the way, Guarantano was not a very skilled player. However, look at the jokes he had for coaches. He was always a loyal team player. When he got benched he was the first one to cheer and congratulate the guy who replaced him. He also carried himself with class and dignity the entire time he was at UT.
