Last week. I did 4x800 sprints. Next week is 5x800

He said “as hard as you can”. You didn’t do that for 800 meters.

I do speed work at 80 seconds per quarter mile, but that’s not nearly a full on sprint. The last time I sprinted for 40 yards was when I last played touch football at age 47 (I think). That was 10 years ago. But my brother - a year older, at 58 - still friggin plays! I tell you, he’s a marvel. Every Saturday morning at Metry playground he has a pickup game, and it’s been going on since we started it in about 1985. He takes a break from about February through August, and plays basketball instead.

Every once in a while I hit the alarm at the office then realize I left something at my desk. And every time that happens once I get outside I comment to myself that I don't remember the last time I actually ran. It's probably been at least 8 years.

I'm not sure why this is hard to believe. I'm training for a race. Once a week I have to put in speed work. It alternates between sprint intervals and tempo runs. The sprint intervals for training in the 10K were 400 meters. I'm training for a long race so the sprint intervals increased. "As hard as you can" means different things to different people especially those over on the Health and Fitness Board. My goal was/is to get my 800 meter sprint as close to 3 mins as possible. My first one was 3:30, then 4:00, 4:02, and 4:12. I felt worse after the first one than the last one.

I'd like to be racing in the 5/10/15K at 7/min pacing. Not sure how long it will take me to get there. I'm 45 btw. Down 20 lbs and over 3" on my waist since I started running back last summer.

Football game at gf's family christmas.

I was playing on the dads' team against the kids.

One teenager jumped my back and the other grabbed my belt/thigh I drug those little bastards across two lots in their subdivision.

Celebrated by puking mimosas EVERYWHERE.

Not bad for a mid 30s guy

The new titletown district in green bay has a 40 yard dash timer, which says is for kids, but of course I had to do it. So then, after dinner and a few beers.

Been a few years but was trying to cut off a wounded Pheasant(they are fast on the ground as well). I cut it off and dog got it. I returned to my friends and told they I was not running 100 % bc I thought I would fall down. One of them looked at me and said it looked like you where jogging. I have not run after any more birds. That’s the dogs work.

It’s fricking sad.

Last year shagging baseballs with my sons 9 yo team. One kid ripped one and me and another dad we’re playing essentially short and second base behind the 9 yo lines. I hit my top speed and near embarrassed myself. Stopping is as much of a problem as getting up to speed. I nearly ate shite in front of a bunch of 9 year olds.

I told my kids I would beat my chocolate lab in a race.

We went to the park for full sprint.

Park was packed with people (soccer games i think).

I unleashed her and we raced. I hit top speed and busted my arse. It was a disaster. There was alot of laughter and my ego has never been the same.

I’m 48 and still hit a full speed sprint about once every two weeks after walking in the morning.

Never know when you may need to haul arse.
