Back in fall of 2000. I was walking through a bank parking lot when someone jumped out of a van and tried to rob me at gunpoint. Fight or flight kicked in and I chose flight. Not sure Usain Bolt could have caught me.

My knees are way too far gone from running to sprint anymore. I hit 27mph sprinting on my bike on Stanford this weekend, if that counts.

Sprints are great exercise and sometimes it’s fun to run as fast as you can. The last time I did it was a few months ago and I pulled a muscle in my neck/traps and couldn’t turn my head for a few days.

I need to run again

At my age I'm not running 40 yards at full speed. If something or someone is chasing me ill turn around and fight.

I don't have to run from the police, so it's been a while.

Probably about 10 years ago when I was watching my sister's dog while she was out of town and the dog got away from me at a park. My mom said she hadn't seen me run that fast since the 90's.

When I first started working after school, there were 2 partners (both about 40-45 at the time) in my law firm who got into a big argument about who was faster. It was settled they were going to race in a 40 yard dash in the parking lot on Thursday during lunch. They talked shite all week, and Thursday most of our office went out to watch. One puked and the other tore his calf muscle

Got too close to a beehive....ran...haven't ran in 20 years I guess. One got me in the forehead, a couple hit me in the back of head, but didn't sting. Odd because I have gotten right next to the hives before. Think maybe the 1000 love bugs flying around the hive got them upset.

40+ yards? Sometime in the 20th century.

Now, I was playing golf at The Bridges in Bay St. Louis a few springs ago and the gators are out sunning themselves. I get close to the water to chip up on the green and thought I saw a gator close to the bank (it was a log). Well I sprinted for dear life I'm guessing for 20 yards before I turned around due to all of the laughter.

Pulled both hamstrings, and went down like a sniper got me. That's when l knew I'd hit the brick wall.

I pulled one so bad two years ago trying to teach my kids baseball team rundowns that it bruised my leg up. I thought I was going to need a call for a wheelchair. But I gimped on back to the truck.

I dont do that any more.

Ive done sprints the last three Saturdays in a row with my kids for the first times in at least 6 months. I workout with weights every weekday and randomly run so I figured they wouldnt be too bad. I still feel quick for 36 but I was so sore the next few days.

After my fist Saturday my groin area was sore for days. That area never gets sore so it made sense. Then after the second Saturday my calves got really sore for a couple days. I workout calves weekly but figured this was different. Then after this past Saturday my upper abs (almost my diaphragm) and upper quads got really sore (still sore today) which really makes no sense since I do front squats every other week. Either way, they are amazing and fun to do with the kids.

Nobody asked for your workout routine

I was prepared for the criticism there! I just had no idea some body parts would get sore from sprints but really dont get super sore from lifting weights. Then my butt and hamstrings get sore from squats and straight leg deadlifts but dont get sore from sprints?

We went to the Waste Management Phoenix Open this past weekend and sprinted from the gate to 16.... I was sucking wind so hard I thought I was going to die right there. It was 40 degree air too. Never again.

it doesn't take much to "sprint as hard as I can" these days. You might not even recognize it as a sprint
