Sounds like your neighbor was just being neighborly. He saw someone that he figured didn’t live in the neighborhood and ask him if he needed any help.

How does the OP have so much information about what the supposed 'nosy neighbor' did and said and what his buddy's prior experiences were with this sort of thing. Did he call his token black friend after to flesh it all out?

If I see a ratty looking car meandering through the neighborhood I'll follow them until they exit and take down the license plate number. It's trashy looking white people.

I wouldn't confront the other neighbor. It's good to have neighbors willing to ask questions. I'd prefer that over neighbors who look the other way when a moving van that you did not call backs up to your front door.

It's the way things are.
People will naturally be suspicious when they see an unknown black guy dressed casually in a white neighborhood.
It's not his fault, it's the ones who commit a disappropriate amount of crime that reinforces the stereotype for white people.
Blame them, not the neighborhood.

My neighborhood is 95% white. I've never seen someone abt any eye at someone over their race. You can tell by how they carry themselves if they belong there or not

This also happens to white people in black neighborhoods, although the encounters tend to be aggressive rather than passive aggressive.
