When will victim-hood cease to exist in America? From slave quarters to white coats.

A group of students from Tulane University’s School of Medicine is gaining attention after they gathered together at a former slave plantation in Louisiana to pose for a photo they say powerfully illustrates their “ancestral resiliency.”
The emotional impact of the photo is undeniable as the students, who are all part of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA) at Tulane, stand stoically in front of the former slave quarters at Whitney Plantation in Edgard while wearing their white coats — an idea that came to fruition thanks to the suggestion of Dr. Russell Ledet.
Congrats on the coats.

Pic #2, is the kid in the overalls a statue or a real kid?

So heroic of these folks to overcome their slavery days

Affirmative action is why I didn’t get into medical school. Several black applicants with significantly lower stats and test scores got in ahead of me. I’m pissed at the politics of the process.

Looks like a nice group of kids that worked hard and became doctors.

Is that why? or maybe you just couldn't cut it. I managed to get in just fine, as did the other 120 ppl in my class and all the other classes from other years. What was your MCAT and GPA???

If this upsets you, then you are huge snowflake and a huge gash of a person.

I’m usually with you, but I don’t think they’re playing the victim card here. In fact, it’s the opposite.
Despite their history, they aren’t using it as an excuse to be unproductive shitheads. Many don’t follow their lead.

bro, you are like victimhood squared, feel free to keep whining about victimhood if it hurts you that much.

Not sure what the issue is with this. It's a powerful picture when you stop to think about those who spent their lives in those quarters who could never dream that their lineage would lead to doctors.

It appears they are doing the exact opposite of portraying themselves as victims here

Great job to those kids.

Several in that group have white in them, and their great grannies did too.

You mean a professor gave them the idea? I’m shocked

I just fail to see how 22-28 yr olds are affected by slavery.

That’s nothing. Sheila Jackson Lee was a freed slave and went on to be a congressman. I guess anyone can do it several generations later.
