Affirmative action is why I didn’t get into medical school. Several black applicants with significantly lower stats and test scores got in ahead of me. I’m pissed at the politics of the process.

I'm going to go way out on a limb and give you the benefit of a doubt that you're being sarcastic here

Your lack of an answer says it all.

Anyway, enjoy yourself. I know you're trolling because only the most soy of boys would actually be affected by something this trivial. Have fun pwning the libtards.

Exactly. I came from a very rural part of the South and was the first in my family to go to college and, for the most part, escape the vacuum that is poverty among the rural white folks. I still bring up the fact that I grew up in poverty in a double-wide next to a dirt road.

But that is a direct-correlation. YOU actually lived in poverty and rose above it. None of these kids actually lived in slavery era America and they are multiple generations from that era. To imply that THEY overcame such a significant hardship is laughable. Perhaps they came from impoverished families, communities, etc. If so, then there is no shame in celebrating such achievement. But this photo is in front of a slave quarter...not a destitute project in Baltimore where they grew up.

I, like you, am the only child in my family to go to college. And I didn't exactly grow up in an affluent home or town. Moreover, my ancestors when they came to this country in the 1800's were of minimal means. But I didn't take a photo in front of my great great grandmother's rickety house suggesting that I, myself, overcame such poverty. Because the reality is that I didn't. I was multiple generations removed from that...as are these kids.

And folks are several generations away from being in the confederacy but still see fit to celebrate like they lost a leg in the war.

I’m usually with you, but I don’t think they’re playing the victim card here. In fact, it’s the opposite.

Despite their history, they aren’t using it as an excuse to be unproductive shitheads. Many don’t follow their lead

this....lets not get too hung up in the "look at me" unfortunately thats just what kids do these days, most likely yours included.

dont care who you are or how you did it, being a MD is a HELL of an accomplishment; great job by them and their family's breaking the cycle...sad but, just three generations ago they wouldn't have been allowed to get treatment at the hospital they'll work at.

I think whats bothering you is that you feel this equates to some level of hatred for modern day wypipo. Hopefully the message is that you can overcome anything with hard work.

I don't quite understand your comparison. Are there numerous instances of people today virtue signaling about how they overcame the hardships of their ancestors living in the confederacy? If anything, the people today who "celebrate" the confederacy falsely romanticize it as if it was some great moment in history, not some era of hardship that their race has overcome to eventually gain equality. Those bozos think they would like to go back to the days of the confederacy. I don't think you'd find a single black person living today who romanticizes the slavery era and wishes they could live in such times. Thus, your comparison seems to make little sense.

1. Where is the evidence that black students got in with a 498???
2. If this dummy were smart enough, he would have scored high enough so that he wasn't borderline. (take it out of the referees hands, so to speak)
3. Personality and interviews go a long way in getting into medical school, so maybe he also just sucks as a person???

Salmon, what does a slave quarter house have to do with these 20 year olds becoming doctors?

Nothing.
