When did you realize you were getting older and not a spring chicken anymore?
just got back from a skiing trip, I've never had to do anything special to get in "skiing shape" before but this time it kicked my arse, only way I can see enjoying it going forward is to increase workouts and focus on those muscle groups before going

39 and diagnosed with cancer. Never sick longer than 3 days before up until then, but for the last year I've been through the friggin ringer medically.
It was December '20 when I took my first ride in the back of an ambulance because of severe abdominal pain - I knew life as I knew it was going to change. Since then I've been in 4 different hospitals, have had over 100+ appointments with several different specialists, 7 surgeries, and have spent weeks in patient for procedures.
I'm still holding out hope that my life can go back to somewhat normal once all of this is over HOPEFULLY in a few weeks after this stem cell transplant. I'm dying to go back to work and be able to visit family and friends again.

I'd say sometime in my early 50's. My nephew had bought a fixer-upper house and gutted it completely. He then decided to change the floor plan a bit and add a master suite complete with large bath and his and her closets.
I took over the framing, trim work, hanging doors, helping him paint and putting in tile floors throughout the whole house. He hired out the sheetrock and insulation.
I helped him over the summer months in Metairie and went home every day spent-----and stayed that way for the better part of 3 months.
I remember drinking at least 4-5 quarts of Gatorade daily and never having to pee since it was getting sweated out so fast.

I'm 44 and still feel fine but I definitely don't feel 28 anymore either.
I think what happens as we get older, or at least what I try to do, is compensate by making better choices.. i dont drink nearly as much at 45 as i did at 25, so i usually feel better than i did back then and have fewer hangovers.. not b/c im not aging, but only becuase of those choices.. same with sleep; i feel better rested most days than i did at 19, not becuase of anything other than the fact that i try to make sleep a priority.. at 19 I’d sometimes try all-nighters, or try to get by on 2 or 3 hrs of sleep.. if i tried that now it’d be pointless b/c i wouldnt even be able to function.

When I started becoming the “matriarch” of my family at recent funerals. All the wonderful old ladies in my life are passing away, and I’m now becoming them.

As a woman, how does that make you feel?

2 rib injuries in 6 months. One was earned while setting up a beach umbrella. The other was legit, earned while stopping the riding mower from rolling while taking it down the hill a bit too aggressively. I saved it and didn't crash, but bent sideways in a way that sucked.
Also I get excited on weekdays when all the kids are in bed before 9 and I can do the same.

When I was a kid a group of us were playing basketball in the driveway of a friend's house. The friend's dad (mid 40s) rolled up and started talking crap about how he was a great player in high school, how today's game was all style over substance with no fundamentals or discipline and how he could single handedly beat all of us together in a pickup game.
About 10 seconds later he crumpled to the ground with a pulled hamstring screaming in pain while four 12 year olds stood there laughing at him.

I'm guessing that was his "moment"

Went to away college football game, did usual bar hopping Fri night and went for a few hours before recognizing a song on “June box”.
When number of body parts that don’t hurt want shorter list than body parts that do hurt.

Recently when I have about 3 prescriptions to take every morning for joint pain caused from football injuries and high cholesterol.
I find it odd I have high cholesterol but am not fat though I could stand to lose a few lbs, and I don’t have high blood pressure. It’s a recent phenomenon

When I turned about 38 and blew out 3 discs in my lower back. It's been downhill ever since, and I'm only 41.

When what ailed me could not longer be cured with a shot. In fact, the shot also ailed me. And ailed me for three damn days!!

A lot of physical stuff referenced, but at about 35-36 my precision in some things at work started to decline a little, mainly in writing. I proofread well, but from 25-35 I rarely found drafting errors, typos, missed words, etc. I could bang out finished product quality stuff pretty easily.
Now I feel I have an error in something I've written more often than not.

For me it was when I noticed how it was much easier to walk on concrete than on grass.
