Why do these cities require emissions tests?
Under the Clean Air Act, the United States Environmental Protection Agency sets limits on air pollution. These areas are typically over the limit and I assume due to refineries and chemical plants.

Will they only test emissions if you live in the five parish area? Or is it still a full inspection?
It's a full inspection but the 5 parish area emission testing must still be performed in these parishes requiring you to go to an inspection station .The rest of the state will just get a QR code in the mail and not need to go to an inspection station.

At the end of the day it probably won't pass anyway. I seen somewhere if passed the state would lose $10M a year in revenue.

Vehicle owners would no longer have to go through the inspection sticker process but instead would receive a QR code in the mail when obtaining their license plates and registration renewals.

Great news in you don't live in the 5 parish area governed by the emission testing. If you do after a vehicle passes the safety and emissions checks, the system would generate a QR code sticker with all the relevant data encoded.
So you would still need to go to an inspection station.

re: State plans to require QR sticker in place of inspection sticker

I thought 5 parishes in La were mandated by the government to inspect vehicles emissions. My guess the 5 parsh area would still need emission testing somehow.

Worried about the mid-terms and Republicans getting crushed, he knows if this happens he's toast.
Perhaps should've waited until after the mid-terms.

I don't know how the expect anyone to show up for work that's not getting paid, especially this long. Not like these people are in a high income bracket and can afford weeks without pay. Most probably live paycheck to paycheck to start with.
Granted once settled they'll get back pay but in the meantime they have bills to pay etc.
