My 10 yr old nephew was invited to a birthday party last weekend at an indoor trampoline place. His parents were out of town so I was babysitting. I dropped him off at designated time and was going to pick him up at designated time. About 5 mins after leaving, I got a call from birthday kid's mom saying I couldn't just leave him at party and that I needed to stay the whole time. She acted like I was crazy for dropping him off and leaving. WTF is up with this? My parents never stayed at a birthday party that wasn't mine when I was a kid. Is this common nowadays?
I stayed since my nephew was already there and no shite, there were like 30 parents there plus siblings of kids invited.

Blame personal injury attorneys and insurance companies.

Probably has something to do with those trampoline parks being crazy dangerous and having liability rules about unsupervised kids.

Because they hosted the party. Don't want to watch a bunch of kids then don't throw a birthday party.

then they should either not have a party or make it clear on the invite.

at 10+, parents generally did not stay at bday parties for my friends or me. Maybe a close friend of the family, but definitely not every parent. that's gay and lame.

It isn't just birthday parties. You ever been to a kids' sports PRACTICE? My dad or mom always just dropped me off at practice. Or I rode with a friend. Now, at least one parent is there and many times both. At fckng PRACTICE.

6 year old bday parties are when it starts getting bad. That’s when they’re old enough to start inviting their friends from school instead of u inviting your friends who have kids the same age. Then u gotta sit around with a buncha parents that you’ve never met.

Oh and “get off my lawn!!!”

It kinda makes sense with it being at a trampoline park, lots of potential for injury there.

I'll admit it does seem kinda weird, but then again the most dangerous thing that could've happened at most of my parties was a kid shitting his pants from too much mr. gatti's

This was normal for me 25 years ago

but my parents actually loved me so that might be the difference
