Somewhere above the Mason Dixon Line would be my guess.

As a Mississippian living in La for 30 yrs, you mentioned something I agree with 100 percent. La folks are much more intertwined, connected and employed by the state vs Ms natives. Whether this is related to Huey Long’s legacy, unions or whatever it is often seen as a feather in a person’s cap in La that they work for the state. In Ms, on the other hand, it’s not seen as a positive that someone works for the state, but as a sign of complacency and even laziness. This leads to a little more accountability and industriousness in my opinion, possibly due, for better or worse, to the Calvinist, as another poster mentioned, judgments of others.

I have lived in all three, mostly in MS, born in LA...I would rank it AL, MS and then LA last. None are great overall. All of them have great, amazing and unique pockets.

5-10 years ago Louisiana and Alabama might have been neck and neck. But Alabama has basically lapped Louisiana since then…despite the fact that LA probably has the most economic potential of all three states

It depends what you like. Louisiana has the culture food New Orleans best fishing just overall alot more things to do and a lot more direct flights from MSY than BHAm and La economy is finally starting to click. Alabama is overall nice and has the beaches and a more diverse economy but is very bland MS if you like peace and quiet and the MS Coast is only an hour from NOLA

Louisiana at least has Cajun people and the ones I know are salt of the earth. They are resourceful and hard working people. Louisiana has some demographic challenges, lol. Where these challenges are found you find high crime and violence. There is still a lot to like about Louisiana culture. Mississippi and Alabama have no true culture. It’s a mix match hodgepodge of whatever.

I feel like the food in all three are pretty close…additionally they all have the shitty “big city”…

We all know how shitty LA is run…MS has made leaps and bounds education advancements…Alabama seems to have better scenery in the northern parts

LA really only has food.

The fishing and hunting is vastly superior in LA. 2/3 of Mississippi is timber cutover. The inshore fishing is a joke compared to LA and the bass fishing between Caney, Darbonne, Toledo is not even comparable.

The school options in LA are superior. More of the public schools are viable options and the private school options are better.

Louisiana has some poor drug down towns but the Mississippi delta is the some of the poorest most desolate counties in the country.

I live in Louisiana because my career path brought me back and I still have elderly parents here. I tell my kids regularly that when the time comes go somewhere with a better quality of life. I hate it here often.

But saying Mississippi is better than LA is like saying cat shite is better than dog shite. At least dogs shite in the yard.

Initial thought….yikes.

Then saw this and knew the profile right away. Lived within 25 mile radius entire life and has disproportionate confidence in view of the world type beaming brightly.

Go see the “world”…like the big part. Not just another adjacent state but another country, continent and many different cultures and religions. Learn. Live. See. Report back.

Your “world” is smaller than you realize right now. Do it. You will be bigger and better for it.

That you have to clean up or risk your kids stepping in it.

As another poster said, Mississippi has more places I would want to live than Louisiana. Coast, Hattiesburg, Madison, Oxford, Southaven.

Louisiana has Northshore, Lafayette, and maybe Prairieville. Thibodaux is decent but I grew up around there and have no desire to move back.

I lived in both states and Mississippi has slightly better roads, a slightly cheaper COL, and you are closer to more fun things that are an easy weekend drive away. Louisiana your option is basically Houston

Born & raised in Nola area. Lived in many other places (including multiple states and Europe). Traveled all parts of the world in 30+ yr career in big earl.

LA is terrible in many of its parts and absolutely (and comparatively) glorious in what it is, how it goes about it and the people that make it…in some of its parts. And it is not even close, when compared to other states and countries. And there are some great states and countries in the world. Encourage all to experience them.

If you die of natural causes, that’s your own damned fault. Love it! Many across the world love it. New Orleans is awesome in view of many around the world. And it’s not random accident why.

Rural locals have over sized views from their small worlds and low sight lines. Hope you are not another one.

Go see the world. Life is short. Really is.

Bet you would lol. These states rank at or near the bottom in every category that matters. But let me guess, Cali, Illinois and Minnesota are no-no’s for you right?

Call it what you want. Louisiana still has a major US city with multiple pro sports teams and a real airport. The other two and have nothing even close really .

So if that is the metric for best state, where do you rank Nevada?
