I really don’t like the newish trend of coffee shops and fast casual establishments being generally uncomfortable and unwelcoming

Bad, bright lighting. Uncomfortable seating. Cold as frick. I just don’t get it

I had a rude waitress who couldn’t be bothered.
She brought our meal but didn’t bring the guacamole apetizer so I asked her to scratch it from the bill and she got annoyed. Then I asked her to take the finished plates which were piling up on the table and again she got annoyed.

She just wasn’t cut out for service work.

When she eventually brought us the bill, she stood next to me and farted loudly. She didn’t walk away either.

I didn’t tip her and she followed me to the parking lot to get my license plate like she was going to report me or something.

The whole thing was surreal

Poor service. But if you go to locally owned places I think this is less of an issue.

I have not experienced anything like the gravy issue. As a rule though my family and I don’t eat at chains but I realize not every city has the vast variety of local options that New Orleans does.

The two places I frequent enough to know almost the whole staff does this. I don’t really mind. It’s funny to me.

But it would be weird if it were a place where I didn’t know any of the employees.

Wait times. RocknSake on Metairie Road took one hour and twenty minutes from the time we walked in until the food came. And we were ready to order five minutes after we got there. (It was a good size group).

There is a Wendy's here in Knoxville that smells terrible. I don't eat a ton of fast food anyway, but there is no chance I'll ever get anything from there.

- Poor service (a one off usually won't completely turn us away, but more than once and it's out of the rotation).

- Subpar food. Especially if overpriced.

- Bad food inspection score (we'll usually look it up to see what it was that caused the score, some things carry more weight than others).

If the food is a disappointment. I guess I set my expectations high, but it seems like quality has really gone down in a lot of places.

Automatic Gratuity -
Overpriced food - Meaning only food that is not worth the price. I don't mind paying $65 for a steak if it's good and cooked to my liking.
Lazy servers

New Tacos del cartel restaurant in Perkins Rowe, Baton Rouge, LA
They charge automatic gratuity of 20% on tables of 4 or more...
Their street tacos version is like $28 and the blue tortilla's bust when you pick them up.

If no one comes to my table and acknowledges my presence within 5 minutes, I am out of there. I am not asking for much, just a menu and some water. Then I can be patient.
