Yes. Best advice is to let he nurses take the baby at night.
Definitely do this.
Take advantage of the nurses while you can
Absolutely,

I was 9 lb 1 oz...so being a big ole baby runs in my family.
My wife was 5'0" 105 lbs before she got pregnant
ETA:
Granted, that is prediction at full term on Sept 9th.
If she had him this week, they predict like 7/7.5 lbs or something like that. They say they gain 1/2 pound every week in this final month.

Yeah, they'll only take the baby if there are issues I think. They told us it stays with us.
I'll see what I can do though.

Mine was due August 8th. Still waiting. He was almost 9 pounds according to last ultrasound. RIP Mrs Sun God's bergina
I packed a change of clothes, pair of underwear, pair of socks. Pint of woodford. Snacks. Laptop and kindle. Headphones. Blanket.
Although if this fricker doesn't make an appearance soon I'm gonna have to go re-buy snacks

That is not true. We let the nursery have it the first night after we had been up for nearly 2 days.

We we're in one of those hospitals too.
They offered to take him to the nursery when they had to draw blood at 3am. Took full advantage.

frick that, unless there were complications. Both my kids went home the next day.
If it’s a C-Section she will stay at least two nights. Our first child I was at the hospital for three full days and two nights. But typically, like you said, no complications they will be going home the next day.

My wife packed mine for all 3 kids. Don't remember what was in it except clothes and a pillow.
I just brought my phone, work pc, all applicable charging cables, and a yeti tumbler (bitch arse nurses wouldn't give me one of the hospital tumblers for the first kid so I learned).
I went home to shower, change clothes, etc.

It's not going to matter. They bring the baby in anyways and nurses/staff are coming through to check on your wife.
It actually worked out fine for us, because our child was born late afternoon/early evening. So they slept a good bit that night even in our room.

Just had our first son in July. Bring your camera and video camera. You will want pics/videos, the delivery nurses are usually amazing- you can give them your phone/cameras and they will take amazing photos so you don't have to.
Def bring snacks, that first day is long.
The bed fricking blows, but you won't spend much time sleeping on it anyway. I slept may be 3-5 hours total in a 50 hour stretch when we had our son and we had a normal, quick and healthy delivery and healthy baby. You just don't sleep with everything thats going on in those 2-3 days.
Have patience and take care of your wife! You will be changing the diapers, rocking and swaddling the baby wayyyyy more than you expect because she will be in bed recovering.
Pro Tip: as best you can WHEN THE BABY SLEEPS, TRY AND SLEEP YOURSELF. The most they sleep will be the first few days of their lives (assuming happy and healthy). So follow their lead - you will be shocked how much an hour long nap will do for your sanity.
Good luck baw. Its a fricking life changer in the best way.

How many Posters know that Hospital Pharmacies carry beer as a prescription for alcoholic patients?
True story at BR General in Baton Rouge.
anyhoots. I've got 4 chirrens born in old Woman's Hospital.
Each time, at least 1 friend has brought a bottle of Turkey. We've taken many shots in front of nurses/hospital workers in the room
Since my chirrens were born, we've carried this tradition over to the New Woman's in BR as well.
Just don't go wandering outside the room with the bottle being a jackass or getting hammered drunk.
Celebrating in the room with alcohol is rarely frowned upon.

As with anything, there are exceptions. But a normal delivery and a healthy kid...it's staying in your room.

We had some wine and friends brought me some beer for first kid. Not sure on official policy, but I doubt they'd say anything if you're cool about it.
I love to drink but didn't even think of it in the hospital. Too tired, and did all the baby stuff while the wife rested/recovered.

might want to bring a small extension cord. Sometimes the plugs can be far away. And yeah dont pack too much. Just go home and change/shower.
