Nothing. As I've gotten older, I realize what great taste in music my folks really had. Guitar solos rule.

I really can't think of anything bad.
I remember good times driving up to the country to see grandpa on Sunday and listening to the likes of Jerry Clower and Boots Randolph on the musical side.

My parents bought me a Dan Fogelberg album one year for Christmas. It was awful.

Christmas music. Starting Thanksgiving week every year, it would be on non-stop in my Mom's car and in the house while she was cooking.

my parents listened to everything from Motown to Jimmy Buffett and everything in between so no real complaints
one time on a road trip my mom snuck a Ronnie Millsap CD into the rotation which was horrible... but now it makes me laugh looking back so IDK if that would even count

My dad liked the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, etc. I like those a lot as well and always have.
After the mid-70s, he mostly listened to classical music. I’m not a huge fan of it myself but I certainly don’t dislike it.

My dad listened to mostly country, my mom used to listen to motown and whatever was popular at the time.
My sister used to listen to pop and rock bands like Journey, REO, etc. My brother is the one who introduced me to hip hop when I was young. Run DMC, Slick Rick, Beastie Boys, Grandmaster Flash, the Sugar Hill Gang, etc. My brother had the biggest influence in terms of the music I listened to, but I always appreciated all music.

Happily downvoted you. I would love to listen to Herb Alpert and Frank Sinatra again with my parents.

I got the music lesson.
Father puts me in front of stereo. Starts playing a rock station. Says you hear that? that's crap. and goes into a spiel about how bad that music is.
Then he puts it on WYNK and back then, WYNK played that twangy country crap. Said you hear this? This is good music. Blah blah blah.
At least he could've put it on the classical station.

Same here. My mom would play Barbra f*cking Streisand all the f*cking time.
My dad would play The Platters. I hated it back then but I've come to like The Platters over time.

You should be ashamed of this. Karen Carpenter had the voice of an angel and I’d say the best female voice ever…she gets my vote. Boo on YOU!

Some of the current female county singers.
My mom’s taste in music is usually pretty good. She was big into the Beatles and the 70’s singer/songwriter and folk scenes back in the day.

Motown and old R&B stuff. I’ve come around to appreciate much of it though, as I’ve aged.
