quote:That's not who was to blame, though. It was the heart disease crusaders who insisted that saturated fat was the culprit. The mix of soy/corn oil that they are using now is some of the worst shite you can put in your body. I'm really hoping that McDonalds will go back the other way in the next 10 years - which means the entire restaurant world will do the same.
Well, if they still used lard to fry them, they'd be fricking spectacular.
This is what happens when you cave to vegetarians and vegans.

I think the regular burger, like the ones in the kids meals, is one of my favorite foods of all time. I wouldn't compare it to a real burger because to me they are entirely different foods. But damn I love those things.
Most McDonalds I see ARE clean. But doesn't matter anyway because I don't exactly dine in
The employees at the ones I visit are definitely better than Popeyes, Burger King, Taco Bell.
I don't find it slow or expensive. Through the app, you can get a Big Mac or a Quarter Pounder for $1. All large drinks are $1.
McDonalds is one of those places that is easy to hate on because everyone thinks it is funny and cool but it really isn't that bad. Kind of like many DMVs.

They suck since no tallow.
Maybe...but they're still ranked very highly in consumer research.

What is the actual reason they recently decided to serve breakfast all day?
Simple - it's one of the biggest strengths they have in quality perceptions and quality is a big focus. It's also more profitable than Regular Menu. The hardest part was getting the kitchen to where they could actually do it. I was never in operations so I couldn't tell you what they did to make it happen. I think there was some menu simplification (moving out some items) and moving/changing of equipment. Execution at a specific site may suck due to poor staff, but the processes are not taken lightly and will run like a well oiled machine with a capable crew. They take huge care to get that part right even if we don't always see it in our neighborhood. There's a whole warehouse outside of Chicago with mock kitchens to test the impact on service based on any changes. I saw it once and it's pretty impressive.
Breakfast all day drove big sales lifts that stayed. Most of the extra breakfast business was done between 10:30 and 1:00pm. As a customer I love something like the sausage burrito as an afternoon snack. But with demand not as strong after that 1pm time, breakfast orders are harder to prep for. This leads to longer service times and probably hurts more people from coming for Breakfast in the afternoon/evenings. The burrito should be quick since it is basically just a frozen combo that is reheated and rolled.

What keeps McDonalds afloat?
The delicious Big Mac.

McDonald's has a world-wide distribution infrastructure that makes them impossible to compete with on operating expenses and profit margins.
That's why they can pack them so densely in an area as they don't need to be wildly profitable.
McDonald's does not try to be the best at any facet of fast food. Just decent at everything. And they have a perfect balance of variety without complicating it like DQ does.
It's the most recognizable brand and menu in the world. There's that too.
There's your real answer.

I eat at mcdonalds at least once a week. It is way more consistent than its competitors like Wendy's and BK. I have one right by my house in Dallas and usually just get a sausage biscuit or mcgriddle or a mcdouble. Cheap, tastes good, fast. Judge away

Seriously since they revamped the quarter pounders. They are legit. Double quarter pounder with cheese and ketchup only hits the spot.

They just bulldozed one here in kingwood that’s been around for 25 years. Harvey flooding did them in and word is they have no plans to rebuild.

Are their fries the only thing keeping them at the top of the food chain (pun intended)?
I really don't see how they stay afloat either without offering the McRib year round. It's to die for.

McDonalds breakfast is pretty good. Probably the best thing they do. I’m sure all day breakfast pumped some life into them.

Nola area McDonald's have a Spicy McChicken biscuit for $1 that's a big hit. Wish Valluzzo would put that in BR locations.

According to Robert Kiyosaki, it's their system. The fact that they can turn over billions in profits with a majority of teenage workers is proof their system is sound. Marginally interested, semi skilled kids with minimal oversight can produce a service that is good enough to keep the doors open.

A double cheeseburger today is the and as in 1984. Consistency rules.

Kids
Playland, happy meals and advertising.
Their food fricking sucks. Give me a mom and pop cheeseburger 10/10 times over a nasty fast-food burger.

For whatever reason, I don't get the cheese on it. But yep.. the small regular burgers are my favorite.
Contrary to all of the "fat" comments in this thread, McDonalds is relatively okay on calorie content if you avoid the fries.
Even a Big Mac is only like 550. That's not horrible.
I don't eat a lot at one time so if I happen to go to McDonalds, that's what I get.. The small regular burgers without onions. And as far as calories, I would have assumed a Big Mac had more than 550, but to all the people making fat comments, they probably have shite in their kitchen, they use on a regular basis, that has the equal nutritional value as a meal at McDonalds..

Am I the only one that thinks the new fresh beef is worse than the frozen?

Ever since I retired from the police force, there is something just irresistible about those Monopoly pieces.

The egg mcmuffin is legit. It's the only thing I'll eat from McDonalds.
