Familiarity with the brand is the main thing.
They still have the best fries when they are fresh and hot.
I don't agree with many of your points as they are franchised and can't lump all into the same poor standards.

McDonald’s makes most of their money off of the drinks they sell
Each cup with drink costs them about three/four cents, and they sell them for $1.50
***for the people ‘wondering how they stay afloat’, I’d have to ask: have you ever been to a McDonald’s that wasn’t in the Deep South? They’re actually pretty respectable in comparison to what we have in Nola
