Neighbors across the street had two on both sides of the lawn in direct sun, died quick death. Had a beautiful pink one in my backyard for probably 30+ years and thrived more out of the sun. Died spring two years ago from a really cold winter or all my male rescue hounds using it for their favorite pee spot for years.

Crepe Myrtle due to hardiness and color variety. They are cool, unique trees.

Wild Persimmon, Cow Oak, Spruce Pine, Catalpa, but my favorite is the Candy Pecan I planted 29 years ago. It’s developed into a large widespread tree that faithfully produces pecans every year. It’s the only pecan around my neighborhood and many people have complemented its appearance.

I remember as a kid hopping a fence to get to a neighbor's Japanese Plum tree.. I used my shirt as a basket for a couple of dozen.. Ate them and in about an hour I had to run home to crap my brain's out...

I’ve acquired some interesting ones. I have a baobab and just recently got 13 more fruit trees. Mostly figs, pomegranates, and citrus. Going to pick up some scions in February and start grafting trees with multiple fruit species.
Magnolias, live oaks, jacarandas, dogwoods are all favorites. Big wisteria trees are cool too. Any tree that flowers purple has always been a favorite of mine since my love of lsu began.

We've got a ton of nice varieties here.
That's a good looking crepe myrtle, I lucked out with my two out front that are getting super tall but myrtles do tend to require some maintenance. If you do it right they look great. Their branches tend to grow like grass.
