Nope. Barring physical deformity, every normal human has the capacity to run for longer than any other animal. We just don't need to do that anymore.

silly view on evolution. If those muscles were to become deleterious traits, then they would be generally lost. Use or non-use is largely irrelevant, it is more about a traits costs/benefits to fitness.
Tons of traits get passed along because they come at no significant cost to the individual/species.

I think the point is, we are using them to the extent we need to use them, at this point in our evolution.

Yes, that's a very specific category of "running". Not quite the blanket statement made. And only a small subset of specially trained humans could do so.

Well yeah, but the fact that we as a species can do this if we choose is impressive. If you can successfully do the Iron Man, you can do that.

I watched a documentary on African hunters and how they slowly pursue prey (walking) and the prey eventually falls of exhaustion. This was large antelope and such. Was weird.

I wouldn’t knock out a cow. I would break all 4 legs then either suffocate or drown it.

Doesn't matter how far you can run. We are slow compared to most animals.

In the last thread I said ostrich, and I stand by that. It isn't 100%. It's pretty risky. Those talons catch you, and you're gutted. But if you can get a hold of that neck and give it a good snap you should be able to break it relatively easily. Those necks seem pretty fragile.

You’re so missing the point.

I assume we are meaning a fully-engaged animal that is simultaneously trying to "defeat" the grown man.

In that case, I'd go with a coyote or some other critter similar to a dog.

It's small enough that a man could probably use his arms to keep it off of the body long enough to throw/kick/grip its neck.

Any animal with legs/height that can truly overpower the human arms will be almost impossible to defeat.

In terms of a head to head battle, no; in terms of killing something, it completely matters. We can run until other animals basically pass out from oxygen deprivation.

3 wolf answers? Yeah no.

A manatee is a good call, for largest. A cow on land for sureI'm not sure we could take anything larger.
