I’ll tell you what I wouldn’t do. I would not teach him to deal with life’s frustrations with violence.

You can do what my parents did. They were brutally honest.

That's what is wrong with a lot of kids today. They are over protected. Then when they have to face the real world they are depressed, deal with anxiety, etc.

This isn't me making light of people dealing with depression or anxiety. I am just saying that there is likely a cause why a lot of younger people deal with this at a younger age.

Tell it life isn't fair. You learn from it and move on.

I don’t know Thomas all that much, but his place is fun.

Son finished Junior High football Tuesday night, with his best showing at QB all year...very accurate, calm...they lost every game this year and outside of a couple onside kicks, he didn’t get to do much with his foot.

Wednesday at school an assistant coach told him that the head coach expected him at practice...I brought him cleats, he kicked the ball really well. Head coach tells him after practice that he’ll definitely play Friday/today.

Thursday he gets his new uniform, number 99, and kicks exceptionally well with the special teams coach. Dead center, over the uprights from 44yds....set to play tonight.

Kid who isn’t at school today’s parents calls in at 11:00 and say he tested positive. We’re on our way to school to bring my boy his gear and we get a text...it’s so over, quarantined for 14 days, season ends next Friday unless they win tonight.

Just talked to the coach, he says show up in 14 days...confident they’ll win.

Gut punch for my son, and all his friends who are so proud of him. Rarely do 8th graders get to fully play varsity. Need them to win tonight, to see it happen now.

I know this all didn’t make sense, but oh well.

So your sons not gay you are?

I have a 14 year old son. Tell him life’s not fair

We can work hard to put odds in our favor but we can’t always control the outcome. Tell him to keep going and he will get whatever next time.

I really say that I’m sorry but it is what it is. Acknowledge, adjust, move forward.

Take your boy to the best casino buffet on the coast. I know you hate those, but he may enjoy it.

Dude, grow up. You’re not the only one with a kid that is an athlete. And yours probably isn’t even that good. If you’re still babying him at 14, he probably isn’t going anywhere anyway.

He’s devastated.

What kind of life’s unfair scenario would have been fulfilling?

This is part of the problem with our country right now. I am not saying voting Republican is the problem, but blind loyalty to a party is the problem.

Our problems are more complex than just voting for a party. A person can be a member of a party and not support everything on the party platform.

People who are that loyal tend to let the platform shape their views instead of thinking about why they have the views they do.

I am pro gun.

In general I don't really support abortion, but I also don't think the government should tell someone what to do with their body and if it is made illegal, women will still find away to do it if they really want to do it so might as well let them be able to go to a professional to do it.

I support the legalization of marijuana as well as a few other drugs because I think the less demand there is for it on the streets there will be less crime. Kind of like prohibition.

I hate cancel culture.

I don't think people should be limited in life because of their lifestyle, however; I think the trans people have gone a little too far with things. The fact is there are two sexes. Male & female, he and she. Bada boom bada bing. There is some other stuff, but based on my views what does that make me party wise?

So why is the team still playing tonight, but he isn’t?

Does he have the Rona? I thought it was some other player that had it

Disappointments are part of life, even when unfair. It’s an important lesson to learn. He’ll be a better person in life for learning this and how to handle without self-pity and self-loathing. It does suck, though.
