NIMBYs are the biggest reason nuclear facilities can't be built now.
Probably so, but the NRC itself is a close second. Nuclear power is the most ridiculously over-regulated industry.

So many environmental and animal conservationist on here.
Because God told me so in Genesis 1:28. God blessed them: "Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth. (MSG)

It creates some jobs during construction. How many jobs do you think are created and stay employed on a solar farm? Seriously do you think 40 people will work there?
Do you have any idea how this works? Good lawd.

Nuclear facilities are starting to get a little traction again. I've seen multiple proposals near me. The folks that care about CO2 are starting to realize that to hit the goals they want to, nuclear has to be part of the equation. You have to do nothing more than to look at Europe to see how nuclear power fits in.

I don’t have an issue with it as long as it’s not forcing people to lose farm land, family land, or being forced to sell their home and move.
This is my opinion on it as well, with a twist. My family owns farmland that we have leased out for farming for decades. We listened to a proposal but turned a solar entity down.
I hate to see farmers in the US slowly dying off and more and more having to import goods from other countries. Solar farms might make it easy for some to make that decision to give up farming. Their initial deals are tempting.

Waste of land.
Is it your land? This is America, a landowner can do what he wants with his land.

They are inefficient as frick. They benefit no one locally. Absolutely nothing is in it for the locals.
Posted on 8/22/24 at 8:54 am to terriblegreen
Why should it benefit anyone besides the landowners?

Here's what I said a month ago in a similar thread

No more solar farms in Louisiana.
I do not have an issue with many forms of renewable energy, but I do with solar farms.
They have:
-a limited life
-huge cleanup cost
-very little to no permanent job creation
-long term harm to the land it is on
-adverse effects to neighboring areas during its life (residual heat, aesthetic, increased risk of debris during hurricanes, noise)
I'm ready for these bullshite out of state firms to move on to Mississippi and Alabama

not against them but, they should put them along the interstates rather than on farm land.

University of Nebraska had a study that cows are more likely to be carbon neutral or possibly carbon negative and better for the environment with the right management and diet
So we best be getting a monthly stipend for eating steak
Summary of part of the study

In the 25 years I've lived where I do, I've never seen a hurricane.

Is it your land that they are being put on? If the answer is no then STFU.

You are one of those people. Go ahead and have your land and I'll buy everything surrounding it and build 15 story section 8 apartments completely surrounding it. My land my rules.
There are better ways to manage solar and destroying farmland with heavy metal leakage ain't it

These people will go along with any agenda as long as it is Not In My Back Yard. They wouldn't give a shite if it was somewhere else as long as they don't have the solar farm next to thier property.
Reminds me of the windmill projects they are planning/building off places like Martha’s Vineyard in the NE and suddenly the raging liberals were up in arms and suing to prevent it. “We’re totally for it, just fricking up other peoples views and property values. We still want the feelings of moral superiority”
