What are some weird traffic traditions/customs in your city?

I've observed the following:
Los Angeles - In most intersections in the city, left turning cars have to yield. It's very common for 2-3 cars to squat in the middle of the intersection and make the left turn after the light turns red. I just don't understand why there aren't more protected left turns in the city of LA.
SF Bay Area - It's okay for cars to drive on the shoulder, which is usually also a bike lane, for more than a block in order to pass traffic going straight to make a right hand turn.

The general rule in TX is that the right lane is for passing only.

NY area: Jump the light when turning left. Once the light turns green, gun it. oncoming traffic is used to it and will wait 2 seconds to allow a left turning car from opposite end to pass in front.

Shreveport-People straight up run red lights. Not get caught in the intersection, I mean run them 1 to 4 seconds after the light has already turned red.

Durango, CO: Trying not to hit the 500 pedestrians crossing every intersection while driving through downtown

I no longer live there but Maine seemed to be the most courteous drivers, especially to pedestrians.

The fact that a yellow light means GO FASTER and a recently turned red light is considered a yellow light in New Orleans city limits. I tell anyone from out of state that visits NOLA to count to three before going on a green light. They wonder why and then call me after their trip to thank me.

Pittsburgh: 1st car at light turning left goes before opposing traffic going straight enters the intersection. Actually called a Pittsburgh left.

I'd allow this in New Orleans at some intersections usually involving Magazine St. Otherwise, traffic is a real cluster caused by left turners.
A corollary is if you are a left turner and don't pull out into the intersection to allow others to go around you can die in a fire.

Just something I noticed while working in NOLA this summer, jack arses who are too impatient and think they are more important than to wait in traffic use the exit/entrance lane around the Causeway to Power exits to pass the line.

Not in my city but something I notice when traveling to Southern Mississippi specifically around the McComb area. It's a blinker issue. People there use their blinkers to show what the car ahead of them is doing. Example, you have three cars in a line on a two lane road (Car A, B, C). Car A is turning left, so Car B puts on their left blinker, while car C slows down even more because he thinks car B is turning. Car A turns left and car B turns off his blinker and continues strait. Drive me fricking crazy!
Also a Louisiana statewide epidemic, hazards in the rain!

Baton Rouge drivers are unable to simul-turn, and absolutely love to come to a complete stop before making a right turn, absolutely love to stop traffic to wave someone into a parking lot, and the best one for some reason love to stop 6 car lengths back from the car in front of them at a red light. The compound effect of which is multiple cars miss the light cycles each time causing extra bad traffic.

In BR on the Florida/Foster intersection, no one, and I mean no one turns on that merging lane that merges with the Florida traffic.

Protected left turns are a lot less efficient than permissive or protected/permissive.
Around here, the common move is to get in the left lane at the beginning of a 10 mile uphill climb in a car that can't even do the speed limit going uphill.

Madison MS - Passing people using turn lanes (the passers use them). The first car that gets the red light usually runs it. Joggers run in the road as opposed to on the sidewalks, backs to traffic with headphones in.
