Also a Louisiana statewide epidemic, hazards in the rain!

I was actually taught to put your hazards on when traveling on the interstate below the minimum speed (45mph) especially when it is raining.

I guess the rules have changed since 1994

the best one for some reason love to stop 6 car lengths back from the car in front of them at a red light. The compound effect of which is multiple cars miss the light cycles each time causing extra bad traffic.

This bullshite is a direct result of that Mom's Traffic School here in Baton Rouge. They tell all new drivers to stop a car length plus back from the car ahead (so they can see under the car ahead over their hood) with the theory being that if someone rams them at 30MPH they won't go into the car ahead of them. It's fricking stupid reasoning as once the car behind you comes to a stop, if you believe their reason, you can then scoot up as he will be the one getting hit. I have told tons of kids this when I ride with them and ask why they stop so far back.

Literally a major problem in this city stemming from one source.

A very specific issue with BR but I HATE people (mostly students) traveling from campus to interstate that wait until the overpass on Acadian to try and get over to the right lane to get on the interstate. Same issue at the Essen exit off of I-12 going towards Jefferson. I see it all the time where people get in the left lane then try to force there way over to the right lane before the light at Jefferson to take a right on Jefferson.

when it is raining.

People out here do not know how to drive in the rain. Traffic slows to a crawl.

However, they are borderline dangerous in the snow.

Everytime I drive in L.A. I have to run numerous red lights because of the no green arrow policy. I think it's legal to run the red if you're already in the intersection when the light turns red, though.

I figured that running every red light was normal for most cities, but I'm surprised to see the idiots stopping short is common as well. Drives me crazy when I'm at a light and the guy in front of me has stopped a good car length and a half short. Hell that's usually what leads to having to run the red lights.

Biloxi: Tourists poke along way below the speed limit in the passing lane on Hwy 90, making the right lane the default fast lane. Traffic engineers refuse to sync 5 consecutive traffic lights in a half mile stretch of road because maybe you'll be tempted to visit the Beau Rivage or Hard Rock each time you stop.

Vehicle/Pedestrian hit and run. There's one about every other month or so. Pedestrian usually dies of course

this is everyone in BR traffic.

especially prairieville people on I-10

they "HAVE" to get in the passing lane when getting on interstate (even though they are only going 55 instead of 70+ like everyone else in that lane)
then in the evening they stay in the left lane too late, have to come to a complete stop to merge 55 feet from the prairieville exit while still in the passing lane.

frick you prairieville people you can die tonight

The Texas Cross-over: Texas driver in the far left lane of three lanes crosses all the way over to the off ramp on the right at the last second. Happens constantly here.

And....Toyota Prius driving frickers in the left lane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get out of my way!!

allow this in New Orleans at some intersections usually involving Magazine St. Otherwise, traffic is a real cluster caused by left turners.

A corollary is if you are a left turner and don't pull out into the intersection to allow others to go around you can die in a fire.

It's not just BR, NOLA may be even worse about this. I overly enjoy trying to not let them in. The things I wish I could say/do to these kind of people would put me in jail for a long time.

Another problem I have, saw it a lot during the flooding, people passing on the shoulder of the interstate/airline because traffic is dead stopped. I will make these drivers go fully into the grass to get around me before I let them get around like this.

New Orleans

-people not obeying school zones. They zoom on through like it's NASCAR. I've seen people flip out in my rear view mirror over me going the speed limit in a school zone.

-blocking intersections. You see it all the time in downtown NOLA during rush hour. It's infuriating.

amongst others...

Louisiana traffic laws state you should be able to see the point where the tires of the car in front of you touch pavement.

actually told a cop this once when he said I was too close to him. Told him to get in my truck and take a look. he got all huffy puffy and left.
