There was a major grocery store chain that opened the first such store in "an across the tracks" part of B.R. several yrs ago. It lasted a year. According to store mgt. it was part theft issues & employee safety.....they were having a hard time keeping employees due to safety concerns.

Easier to close the store than to lock everything behind sliding glass panels.

That’s $231/hr every hour they’re open. And I’d imagine the average sale is less than $20 so we’re talking about a theft every 5 min.

The store could have made $1M for Walgreens just by sitting there boarded up with no inventory.
Reminds me of a Married With Children episode where Al's car kept breaking down and he had to push it back home.
