NYT

You can't actually see much. Still worth the watch.

Kind of useless video...except the part where the cop repeatedly says "drop the fricking gun".

seems pretty disinterested in her husband; more like she's seeing internet fame.

Appears (sounds) justifiable. Why were the police there? What was she telling him not to do? Raise his gun?

Makes her come across terrible. They ask him to drop the gun about 15 times.

No big deal here.

Sad. I don't understand why police try to create such little standoff where they have room to give space. They should have let the women intervene.

Pretty interesting when she started telling him not to do it. Not sure what "it" is, but I assume it wasn't something smart.

COMPLETELY different than the narrative they are trying to promote. Can't believe her lawyers provided this video.

"He has a TBI." "He just took his medicine." "He doesn't have a gun."

She just made the case for the police. Not to mention that she is every bit as uncooperative and aggressive with them as her husband was being.

Here is a clue- saying "he doesn't have a gun" when he does doesn't change anything. Also, remember that he was just minding his own business and reading a book in their narrative when on the video this is seen to be false.

They were at his car telling him to get out and he refused. Then confronted them while holding a weapon and wouldn't comply with repeated commands to drop it.

I just don't see how she thinks this supports her case at all.

Cops shot and killed 2 people in Tennessee last week. Didn't hear about it? Oh yeah, they were both white.

I wonder if the cop who repeatedly said "drop the fricking gun" can tell the difference between a gun and a book? I often confuse the two.

I hope my wife would show more emotion if I were shot.

yup

eta i mean no. clearly those 10 cops were all working a fake narrative of a gun as an excuse to shoot a random black person

they pulled it off!

I can actually answer this. The police have an affirmative duty to protect third parties from injury once they are on scene. They close with the suspect so that he doesn't hurt others. They can't / won't allow a third party to intervene if there is a reasonable belief that the suspect may harm them or take them hostage. This is why the scenes in movies where they let some civilian deal with a hostage taker or "trade" themselves for another hostage is total bullshite. That just doesn't happen.

If they backed off twenty yards, what is to keep the armed suspect from taking off on foot into the apartment complex and shooting a bunch of people?

I agree. Her saying "Keith, don't you do it" doesn't really help her account of the story either.

How can people that uncooperative with clear instructions from police expect things to go well?

What was "keith, don't do it" about?

So he was ignoring the cops AND his wife's repeated pleas not to do anything?

Seems like a good ole boy.

I hate it that a man lost his life, but how many times do the cops have to tell you to drop the gun? Seems to me like he was looking for trouble.

I know one thing, if I have a bunch of cops pointing guns at me, I'm going to do what the hell they say.
