re: If LSU runs the table
Posted by Poodlebrain on 10/5/16 at 9:40 am to GeauxxLSU
If LSU runs the table the worst that could happen is a tie with Auburn for the SEC West. If that happened Auburn would win the tie breaker and represent West in the SECCG. If that happens, then there is zero chance of making the College Football Playoffs.
If LSU wins the SEC West, and the SECCG, it is very likely that they will make the CFP as the SEC champion. Right now the ACC and B1G leaders appear to be shoe-ins for playoff spots. The PAC12 and Big XII leaders look to be on the bubble at best, and Houston needs to run the table to have a shot. The question becomes would a 2 loss SEC champion be more deserving than the champion of the PAC12 or Big XII. My guess is yes given LSU's circumstances and turnabout.
ETA: I forgot about Washington. If they win the PAC12 with one loss then LSU will not make the playoffs.

Call the CPAs in your area and ask them for an initial consultation. You'll know within 5 minutes of it is worth pursuing a professional relationship with them. They will let you know what they will charge you for their services, how those services will be provided and how frequently they will bill you. Initial consultation should be free.

Alabama is second to none when it comes to taking care of its football players. LSU, and Baton Rouge, may be accommodating, but they do not come close to the special treatment Alabama and Tuscaloosa provide Alabama football players.
re: LSU players calling out Moses per twitter

I'm not angry about Moses' decision. My comments were addressing the reactions of why some LSU fans are angry, and why that anger is reasonable.
Dylan Moses, with the apparent backing of his parents, decided that it is in his best interests to leave Baton Rouge to finish high school at IMG Academy in Florida. (Since University High does not allow early graduation I can understand Moses' desire to attend a high school that does.) Dylan Moses, with the apparent backing of his parents, has decided it is in his best interests to play football at Alabama. Why is it unreasonable for people who have made every effort to give Moses opportunities in Baton Rouge, not made available to kids lacking Moses' athletic abilities, to be upset that Moses appears to have taken those opportunities for granted?

The difference in getting the plays called and players ready for the snap was very obvious to even a casual observer. There was time for Etling to look over the field and actually make audibles without worrying about delay of game penalties. My one caution about having specific personnel packages for certain plays is that opponents will not take long to figure out what is going on. So LSU needs to keep making changes in personnel packages that are not clues to play calls.
re: Larry Fedora, do we consider if Herman and Jimbo are off the table?
Posted by Poodlebrain on 10/3/16 at 3:14 pm to LSUGoo
You have to consider what he has accomplished with the resources available and the situations he was in. Did he meet or exceed reasonable expectations? I think he has done so. The only thing left to consider is will his methods work at LSU? That should only be necessary if guys higher on LSU's wish list turn down offers from LSU.

The problem I have is that this year there is supposed to be a presumption of a fumble, then review. The officials on the field did not presume fumble (or muff), despite the reaction of the Missouri player. If the presumption of a fumble had been made was there sufficient evidence to overturn the call?
I have serious issues with the whole review process. When they review they take all the time to get as close to perfection for spotting the ball and getting the clock right. What makes those requirements so important on the few plays meriting review, but completely irrelevant on all other plays? Why doesn't getting the clock exactly right on all plays matter as much as just a few plays? Getting the clock right is one thing the review process can do accurately on just about every play.

Why? What good reason could a 16 year-old have for being at a function that was not aimed at youths? What do we know about her companion who allowed her to leave the function accompanied by two males she met at the function? Why do people have zero problems with accepting male black teenagers engage in illegal activities, but cringe from the idea that female black teenagers do not?

Shut up. Think outside the trailer park for once in your life.

The shooter was defending property from people who threatened his life. It was one event not a sequence of individual events broken down by the location of the participants as the event transpired.
If the carjackers had shot the person who got out of the vehicle outside the vehicle would the murder have been separate from the carjacking or part of the same criminal event? First degree murder or second degree murder. Shouldn't the event be treated the same from either the carjackers and he victim's perspectives?

Dylan Moses, and his family, are entitled to make decisions they feel are in their best interests. LSU fans, and Baton Rouge residents, are entitled to comment on those decisions. Expressing displeasure at the Moses family for ingratitude may be unwise, but it is not unfair. Dylan was afforded opportunities in Baton Rouge that were not given to children without his athletic abilities.
The Moses family has turned its back on LSU and Baton Rouge. They should expect reciprocity. They can look to IMG and the residents of Tuscaloosa, their new communities, to replace the support of the LSU and Baton Rouge communities they spurned.

Someone better tell him how to legally carry a gun in Tuscaloosa. It must be a dangerous place since all the players from Louisiana have to carry weapons.

The IRS could have fun with this estate. If the will was executed within 3 years of the ex-FIL's death, then the gift to charity may be disallowed as being in contemplation of death. The farm may end up in the IRS's hands instead of charity to pay taxes.

I wonder what the parents of recruits will think when opposing coaches mention that they won't have to worry about teammates carrying guns like they would if their sons go to Alabama? What is so scary about Tuscaloosa that the players feel the need to have guns?
re: Tim Brando alludes to poor leadership at LSU
Posted by Poodlebrain on 9/29/16 at 10:47 am to RipEffect
Brando does not have a good relationship with the inner circle of the LSU Athletic Department. So there is no love lost. I take what he says with a grain of salt since I don't think he has any real inside information.
That being said, I don't think too many people will argue with him that LSU deserves some criticism in how it handled the Les Miles situation.

re: My assessment of the Auburn game after watching again
Posted by Poodlebrain on 9/28/16 at 9:09 am to jwill37
Kevin Steele read LSU's playbook. The Auburn defenders knew where they had to be on the field, and they got there ahead of the LSU players more often than not. There was zero hesitation by the Auburn defenders. Compare that to how LSU defenders played for Steele last season, and there was an obvious difference.
Les Miles was too stubborn to make any adjustments in the offense to take advantage of what Auburn was doing. No misdirection plays except for one reverse. No read option plays. No roll out and throw back across the field. Any of those would have caught Auburn over pursuing and resulted in big plays.

USC's admin is more fricked up than LSU's right now. LSU is a better job than them right no

quote:So the same people making the decisions that got the Saints in the position they are will magically be able to fix things. How anyone can believe the Saints will invest $30 million on free agents wisely has to have been blind to the wasteful spending on free agents that is their history. How much of the $30 million will be spent on players already on the roster whose contracts are expiring? A saving grace of the Saints poor draft history is very few rookie contracts needing to be replaced.
If we continue this shitty play and get a top 10 draft position, along with having $30+ million to spend in FA, we're not that far off.
What about depth at OL, DL, LB and TE? There hasn't been a season go by that the Saints haven't had players injured for extended portions of the season. What are the chances that one, or more, of the currently injured players will not make a full recovery such that they cannot play at the same level as pre-injury? The Saints need much more help than your post asserts.
