It was slowly getting a little better/gentrified I thought.

Bad part is much like nola bad parts and good parts are real close. I lived in a much desired area of DS and that dude could have easily walked to my house. It is also very near the junior high, tractor supply, dodge city vet, and the antique district.

If you have time to read the story, it aint no joke, what this woman went through that night. She is just now speaking out about it after being victim blamed on FB.

Just read it, crazy story. Always have those people knighting for the criminal; especially if the criminal fits a specific description

“I’ve been made out to be this disgusting person. People told me I’m on drugs, that I had sex with him and regretted and was embarrassed. It’s been turned into something it’s not. And it hurts my feelings because I’m not that person.”

Life 360 helped us when my daughter hydroplaned in a curve on blackwater road on a dark rainy night.

She called me crying saying she lost control and her car flipped when it slide in the ditch but could only say somewhere on blackwater. Jumped in my car and my other daughter opened Life 360 and was able to pinpoint exactly where she was.

Every family needs this app. And it’s free.

in the woods near Hwy. 190 and Pete’s Hwy.

Literally drove there last night. It's VERY dark and someone could easily surprise someone else and drag them off without being seen. Scary shite, but I'm glad she made it out okay. Now I hope she can deal with the trauma well enough to live her life, and hopefully justice is served to the piece of shite that did it and he goes away forever.

Back when I was growing up in Denham, this dude would have been swinging from the tree. Of course 10 others that fit that description would have been there as well. Now he'll just go to prison for a few years and be let out to do it again and again

That area behind the convenience store where it appears she was walking has one decent looking medical office, but everything else is kind of sketch. The ironworks is an antique store now, but it is also kind of an anomaly. And the end of Rodeo right there is…the end of Rodeo, never good.

Everything in Denham is relatively close to everything else inside the city limits, but the bad areas are pretty well-delineated. Eastover infects everything around it, and so does that area behind Tractor Supply.

I live north of Denham outside the city limits in a very good neighborhood, and there are places not too far from me that I would not walk at night. There are only degrees of “safe”, tbh.

Unless it’s exaggerated I don’t get harassment of victim with ongoing disbelief like it was a date rape or regret accusation brought up later. If they were saying entire thing was made up or even a drug deal gone bad I would think the dna and later arrest in December would have put that to rest as well.

Article in OP mentions police involvement that night and family using 360 app after she didn’t come back. They found some of her stuff in woods before she called 911 at first house she saw, and she appeared to be badly beat up without going into being raped.

Then an article about the guy’s arrest in late December implies using DNA to help ID guy. It just doesn’t come across as someone they immediately brought in to question as a suspect and start working through his story compared to victim’s working through consent stories to arrest weeks later. Even if she went looking for drugs it seems like there was ample evidence of assault and rape.

quote:

At approximately 9 p.m. on Dec. 9, Denham Springs Police received a call about a woman allegedly being kidnapped while walking on US 190 toward Pete’s Highway.

According to officials, the victim said she was taken to a wooded, unknown location on foot where she was allegedly raped.

Since then, Denham officers have been able to make an arrest.

DNA was collected as part of the initial investigation and a DNA profile was obtained for the suspect, Devin Brazile.

Brazile was arrested on Dec. 26th around 9:15 a.m.
