USA can easily win a true war.

It's the "morals" of war and media stirring up the populace that cripples us.

Traditional warfare is a thing of the past. Cyber warfare, drones, biological warfare, and nuclear deterrence is the way of the future.

The more and more technology advances....the less we have to worry about going to shithole 3rd world countries to fight "The war on terror".

Our technology, intelligence, and surveillance is much more advanced than it was in 2001.

We have to stop wasting our resources on wars with 3rd world countries so we can keep up with China.

China is the new enemy.

If we arent taking over the land, the minerals, or the women, whats the point of fighting a war. Blow the shite up or kill whoever then get out.

Seems the only way to actually win a war nowadays would be to rain down nukes, but that would be pretty bad for everyone. Especially if that war was with another nuclear power or some country with close ties to a nuclear power.

I’ve actually read that during the surrender ceremony the American general stated we never lost a battle to the north Vietnamese. Their leader responded, and yet you’re the one leaving the vanquished.

There was no surrender ceremony.

Bingo. Frankly I’m not really even sure what the point is of the army anymore. The Air Force, navy, marines, and cyber warriors can do everything we need done from a military perspective. By the time the army is involved we’ve already been there too long.

Air Force
Navy
Marines
Cyber

If the mission can’t be won by those elements alone the mission is either: 1) nation building or 2) war with China or Russia. We should never engage in either of those options.

Sorry Army bros. You are obsolete pension queens and should be disbanded.

We kicked the ever living shite out of the Iraqis and we owned Afghanistan until the American people lost the will to fight.

We were not even fighting in Afghanistan any more. The last American KIA in Afghanistan was February of last year. we’d moved on to advisory and peacekeeping. Last year the cost of being in Afghanistan made up a whopping 1% of the national budget.

The truth is the Afghan Army for the past several years had shouldered the majority of the fighting and the last 5-6 years virtually all the fighting on the ground. Look at the casualty rates year by year:
American casualties by month and year

Research by Brown University estimates losses in the Afghan security forces at 69,000

The last time the US monthly casualty total was even in double digits was June 2014 when 13 servicemen died.

So the truth of Afghanistan was is has not been a “forever war” for the US. The Afghan Army was doing the fighting and were waging the type of war we trained them to fight, namely a combined arms land/air war where ground units could and did rely on air support for both combat and logistics needs. When Biden pulled eveyone out he also took the civilian contractors who maintained the Afgan air assets. Suddenly the Afghan army that has been fighting for years found it’s main ally was abandoning them and worse yet crippling their air assets. This is why the Afghan army collapsed in sudden fashion.

Pakistan?

Not that I would have a problem going to the mat with those two faced frickers. They (or factions of their ISI) supported the Taliban and gave them refuge. Pakistan isn't a true ally. They only "helped" because we bribed them.

frick Pakistan.

We did lose this war but not because our soldiers weren’t the best fighting force in the world, we lost because the American people do not have the stomach to be a world power.

If the American people have finally drawn a line in the sand in response to your 20-year neocon guilt trip, then maybe there's hope for us yet.

War isn't the Olympics. We're not counting medals here. Find a source of prestige that doesn't waste my money.

What about the wars in our 3rd World cities, Kabul might be safer than Chicago or New Orleans in a few weeks or sooner.

We haven’t been fighting a war in Afghanistan for years. See my post above for details.
