Abby just realizes that you’re the closest thing to her IQ level in the neighborhood so she gravitates towards you

Is this your attempt at setting up an online alibi/defense?
See, I thought it was totally innocent, she invited ME, and I’m really more interested in the adult female.
Leave the little girl alone Winston before you take it too far.

Creepy AF to write a letter. Just go over and knock on the door and her ask her dad if his daughter can play…or

And, if he's actually the same in person as he is on here... he poses her absolutely no threat because...well... she's of the wrong gender for him.

Mate? Lad?
Since when do you pretend to speak like that?

Pretty telling that you don't know if it's weird for a grown man to pass notes to a little girl.

I want to polite, but I'm also sensitive that I'm a single man in his 40's and I don't want to look like a creep going over to an 8 year old's sticker sale

Letter was pretty solid though and polite. I also support children's entrepreneurial spirit and endeavors. Always try to leave em a little extra.
You should have offered to buy the lot of stickers.
And maybe not mentioned poop

We all know you were thinking Eight isn't so far from Eighteen.
Laying a little groundwork for the future, huh?

Thou shall not covet thy neighbors wife.
Pretty wise words.

I thought it was an interesting dilemma. Am genuinely curious how I should handle it.
I think the fact that something this innocent is making you overthink this much is why people are questioning you.

Arguendo this is real I am surprised nobody suggested going through a parent, preferably the father first.
This! The only way you should be interacting with this child is through her parents…,period.

I would not want you within 1000 yards of a child. You sound off.

I’ll bite and assume it’s legit.
Your handwriting is hard to read, and do you really think she knows the word "endeavor "?
It’s a sale, not a trading event, she is a clever entrepreneur!. How much are the stickers? Looks like seven dollars? That can’t be right, maybe that’s a 1, but it doesn’t look like the 1’s in the address.. Her handwriting is atrocious for 8, maybe she is 5 or 6.
I like that you are paying for stickers, not just giving a handout.
The creep factor is there if you deal directly with the kid since she is so young. Absolutely be sure the parents see her invitation to you , and ask if it is ok to respond with a note and $ for her to choose stickers for you. (Maybe include a self-addressed-stamped envelope for the stickers so an 8 year old doesn’t come knocking ? )
I didn’t know the comparison reference for the mom, but others have said it’s a porn star, so that colors the perception of what your intentions are here. Don’t use the kid as an excuse to creep on the mom.
I hate that the world has so little innocence that CYA is mandatory. Analyzing how any action can be perceived, or misperceived, is a necessary step before taking that action. That’s exhausting, but here we are . .

It's sad that your offer to support her sticker sale and apology for missing it is considered "creepy."
When I was a kid I interacted with several adults in my neighborhood. Made the area feel like it was my own, my place.
