Yazoo City? You’re kidding. Easily one of the worst places to live in the state.

I go to Tremont and go north to Red bay and get on 24 to Decatur. It’s a 4 lane and goes middle of nowhere so you can haul arse most of the way and not get pulled over

No need to go to Tremont any more. Hwy 25 just past Fulton is now 4 lane and connects to the Hwy 24 four lane where it used to end at the State line.

To avoid Decatur.
I hate Decatur, especially the Beltline and I've always enjoyed The Trace.

Maybe they’re just boring. That’s how I feel about my wife’s hometown. It’s not a bad place but comes off as boring for the same reason. The people you’re with put that taste in your mouth.

Not sure about some of these. Specifically the Memphis one. Looks more like 2 maybe 1.5 on a great day.

May be a little closer to 1.5 hours. In normal conditions (not now because there’s ice everywhere), it takes me an hour and 15 minutes to get to Memphis airport from my house in tupelo. I just get on 22 and put the cruise on 80mph.

as someone born and raised in Columbus

I loved growing up there and still have friends that live there but that town is a shite hole. Crime is getting worse by the day. My dad just sold the family home there and moved to Starkville

Some damn good eating in Tupelo. We eat well when we are there. Weather is hot in the summer for sure. They get some cold days in the winter. The downtown area is very clean and well organized. Feels very safe to me. Good outdoor live music most of the year. I think more and more of the older buildings are getting rejuvenated. Someone had some good vision for what the town could be.

Doesn’t matter to most people but, As someone else said, their aquatic center is the best in LA, MS, and AL with the exception of Auburn.

Yazoo is worse. Nothing but abject poverty. It’s depressing there. They are selling 5 bedroom antebellum homes fully restored for like $90k

About time!

That would make the Oxford to or from Huntsville run I did a bunch a lot more better.

I might have to drive it just for old times sake.

OP: Tupelo is (imo) a good landing spot. I’ve been there some and it was alway pleasant. I’ve several good friends there and everyone I’ve known from there have been really nice folks.

Northeast Mississippi would be a damn fine place to live. The economy up there has been doing well. If it weren’t so far from relatives in Louisiana, I’d consider moving to that area. Good economy, favorable demographic, plentiful jobs, low cost of living, the heart of SEC Football! What is there not to like!
