As a fellow Texan I somewhat agree with you. I’ve had my eyeball on Mississippi

You are surrounded by crime and poverty basically everywhere you go in the south. It is not as nice as the places I mentioned (it isn’t a suburb) but I think it’s a fine place

That’s my thing. It’s not a suburb of a crime ridden city. It’s a standalone city in the northeast corner of the state that has this demographic makeup.

Southhaven and all that seem fine but it’s just too close to Memphis and a slice of blue for me. Who knows what it’ll look like 10 years from now with all the migration. Tupelo is sort of close but still far enough to stay decent.

You don’t seem to grasp what I’m saying. Go to places like Yazoo City, Macon, Natchez. You are IMMEDIATELY surrounded by poverty. There is no money. I was in Natchez yesterday morning for work and I tried to go get breakfast downtown. Only one place serves breakfast there now (Natchez Coffee Company on Franklin, really good btw).

In a nutshell in Mississippi you have two options if major airport access is key:
1.) Coast
2.) North MS

Everything in between doesn’t seem to move the needle enough to justify. You need to be able to get to Memphis or Nola jump on a plane and go.

Eh the Jackson Metro is honestly better than the Coast. Your quality of life is a lot higher in Madison or Rankin County. Jackson Metro is better than Baton Rouge metro imo.

Born and raised on the coast. Have homes on the beach. You can’t leave valuables in your car. Here in Rankin County? I never worry about having to lock the car or house.

ETA: Northeast, MS is really nice. I have nothing bad to say about it.

Not true but whatever. I've lived in Natchez for 20 years and love it here. Great hunting and fishing, cool downtown atmosphere, some good bars and great restaurants.

Walk around your downtown during the week in the morning and tell me where to find breakfast. Every time I go to Natchez for work I go to the same place for breakfast bc it’s the only place downtown that serves breakfast. I talk to people who own the shops and they told me Natchez coffee is the only place that serves breakfast.

ETA: Tried to go to Biscuits and Blues. It was closed. It wasn’t even 9:30 AM

Why would that be?

People get shite stolen out of their vehicles in gated Madison sub divisions. Why would someone leave valuables in their car regardless where they live these days?

I'm not in a subdivision at all. These are friends I went to college with. Pretty fancy subdivision though. Golf course, pools, clubhouses, lakes, the whole 9. I'm sure you would be familiar with it.

More for your kids to do in the Jackson Metro and more kid friendly. Would you rather stop at a public park in Gulfport or in Flowood? Police presence/response is better in Flowood, Pearl, Brandon, Madison.

I have a lot of friends on Lake Caroline and I can’t imagine any of them having trouble like that where they live. You know everyone walking down the sidewalk

Would you rather go to Ship Island or the banks of Pearl River?

I’ve been to Little Easy for lunch before. I loved it. I didn’t know they served breakfast. Lady that owned one of the art galleries said Natchez Coffee was the only place serving breakfast and that was yesterday. Not complaining about it, food is always good

Fair enough and I’ve been to Ship Island a bunch. It’s not exactly a top destination. I’m talking about the average person who most likely won’t have a boat

I have a ton of friends out in lake Caroline and gluckstadt area and have never heard of any crime out there.

Now my one buddy that lives in Jackson has had his truck broken into 3 times in 2 years. Even had it stolen in broad daylight over by char. My dumbass friend even chased the truck into the street and tried to jump in the back. It made for a hilarious security video when the thief whipped his truck and slung him off

Yeah I mean they have security and you’re not going into neighborhoods unless you know somebody. It’s about as safe as you can get for any town in America

Yeah Jackson is a COMPLETELY different story.
