Not sure on Tupelo but me and a friend in college 12 years ago went to some old church outside Senatobia supposedly used by Satanists. It had all kinds of Satanic symbols around the outside, tried to break in it and couldn’t. Walked toward the back and some dark form was staring at us from the window, then a group of people came out of the woods wearing long robes and chased us to the truck.

frick that place

Natchez? My gosh no. It’s gorgeous but you’re surrounded by crime and poverty. No chance.

ETA: was in Natchez today actually

After reading these responses, I have chuckeld quiet a bit. I have lived here for almost 50 years and can't find any thing wrong with it other than what you'd find in any town. It isn't a party town by any means, but plenty to do. As mentioned, it is a short trip to many cool arse places too. Great place to be.

Yeah I always enjoy my trips to Tupelo. I go there for work occasionally and I would move there.

Olive Branch and Southaven seem to be more of the popular northern Mississippi suburbs to live in.

These are actual suburbs of Memphis. Tupelo isn’t a suburb of anywhere. It’s just a larger small city by itself. It boomed when the TVA was formed as it was the first city to get electricity from that which led to it becoming a manufacturing center.

It’s consistently grown in population, has around 40k. Fairly low crime, good public schools. Nice downtown area and then your typical suburb style/chain stores and restaurants on the main drag. It’s a nice town, kind of a hybrid between old southern charming small town and new suburban corporate America.

I’d rank it above Hattiesburg, Meridian, Greenville, Columbus, Southaven, Batesville but below Biloxi/Ocean Springs and Olive Branch (other similar sized small cities in MS)

That’s one of the main draws. Want access to solid white tail hunting but not live in BFE. A medium sized town with a few things other than a dollar general is ideal. Tupelo seems to check the boxes on paper.

Tupelo is big enough where you can find decent shopping, nightlife, local restaurants and chain restaurants without driving to the city but small enough to not feel congested and crowded. Definitely plenty of hunting in the immediate area. Also good fishing/boating not far away at Pickwick, Bay Springs lake, lake Sardis, lake Enid.

Can’t believe a thread about Tupelo went 4 pages before The King was mentioned.

The house he was born in is unbelievable. 2 room, 15x25 shotgun shack. Really drives home what a true rags-to-riches American dream Elvis’ life was.

I’m still young and single. The bar scene is better. I’m also a boat guy. Casinos are a plus for me. Restaurants right on the water are awesome. It sounds like you’ve made up your mind in Tupelo. I’m not trying to talk you out of it. I just responded with my preference. The cities along the coast have a lot to offer someone like me

The Pony is it’s only redeeming quality

Used to frick a chick from WP a long time ago as a FWB thing. Pretty sure she made money on the weekends by going to the tunica casinos and being a hooker

Nahh. There is a relatively inexpensive flight from Tupelo to Nashville that runs back and forth a few times a day. Can be in Nashville in 35 minutes.

If you wanted to go from Tupelo to Huntsville, Natchez Trace to Cherokee, Al. and 72 straight to Huntsville seems like the way to go.

There’s no good way to go. Trace is slow because speed limit is 50 and they’ll burn your arse for speeding 5 mph over.

I go to Tremont and go north to Red bay and get on 24 to Decatur. It’s a 4 lane and goes middle of nowhere so you can haul arse most of the way and not get pulled over
