Would you rather stop at a public park in Gulfport or in Flowood?

Gulfport compared to Flowood isn’t a fair comparison. Try BSL or Pass Christian to Flowood

Yeah I mean they have security and you’re not going into neighborhoods unless you know somebody. It’s about as safe as you can get for any town in America

And what criminal is going to drive all the way out to Lilly white suburbia lake Caroline where the cops don’t frick around and it takes forever to get out of the neighborhood to steal? Not too mention id bet the overwhelmingly large majority of the residents are packing serious heat

Hood rats ain’t gonna frick around with that

Gladly. You’re safer in Flowood by a HUGE margin

Yeah no kidding. I don’t know which neighborhoods he is talking about but only two damn roads take you to Lake Caroline and they are both single lane. Takes forever to get out there and those people are pretty protective over that area

Those dipshits don’t think it through that deeply. They definitely do prefer to steal from their own people though. It’s easier game for them.

I lived there 2002-2007. Nice quiet place no crime and nothing to do. I think I would enjoy it now being older but hated it then. bars closed at midnight and sunday. bad time to be single...LOL

That’s the boat im in. I used to want to be in the middle of all the action when I was young and stupid.

Now I’m older and just want a clean laid back place that’s family friendly with good schools and a low COL. sounds like Tupelo.

To some boring = bad but to me these days boring = peaceful

good BBQ and close to a bunch of college stadiums. did a lot of away games. their little airport had cheap flights to BR as well. the town is 50/50 state/ole miss and it's easy to become a secondary bulldog fan. rebel fans are the worst. good golf too. stay away from Memphis!

Im banking on the new schedule model always having LSU playing away at Starkville, Oxford, Tuscaloosa or Nashville. 1 bare minimum. I enjoy road games just as much as home games. Change of scenery and winning on the road is way more fun.

No shite, man. That’s why I said “places LIKE”. They are dying towns. Well, to be fair, Yazoo City and Macon are already dead. Natchez has been dying a painful slow death for a while

I moved up to Southaven a little over two years ago after nearly 40 years in BR.

Things I miss: Hitting the marsh for fishing and the local South La. food, although I do a lot of cooking myself.

Things I don't miss: Dealing with the traffic and general dumbassery and red-tape of the local governments (I do a lot of work with various municipalities) It's nice to deal with local governments that aren't obstructionist in nature (Memphis being the exception).

Memphis is like the majority of southern large cities. It has its problems same as New Orleans, Jackson, or Atlanta. Particularly with the urban youth in the area.

And like most large cities, most of the people, of all races, with any money and/or sense GTFO to the smaller satellite towns and suburbs.

Thing is, most of these satellite communities don't want the riff-raff around either. Southaven/Olive Branch cops actively patrol and don't put up with criminals. Same with Rankin County and Madison down by Jackson. Of course, you can't eliminate crime 100%, but they're active on their patrols so I feel pretty safe until I have to go into Memphis.

Personally, I like the Hernando area, but that area has exploded in the average home value price.
Next: Southaven/Olive Branch, Senatobia, Water Valley, and the other small towns along the I-55 corridor.
Oxford and Lafayette County is really nice too.
Don't really have much advice on Tupelo, except I've been there and it seems nice. I'll leave that to others who have commented.

Let's face it....anywhere you go in the South, there are going to be areas where you're going to encounter crime.

We have a little country place in the Batesville area and most of the local folks have been very friendly. We watch out for them and they watch out for us. That's my next move to get away from Memphis.
