Either that or selling it and buying an old 4-runner and a work van.

This is very true.

I'm in the market for a slightly used (2013 or 2014) F150 King Ranch or Platinum, and you're still going to pay $35k+ for anything under 50,000 miles. It's a lot to pay for a truck going on 4 years old, but those were the last two years of the old body style F150, and I've heard relatively few issues out of those year models.

I've also considered the Sierra SLT with All Terrain package, and those are mostly in the high $30ks unless they're very high mileage.

Tundra or Tacoma are indeed the best and will run forever.

My uncle just got a new tundra 2wd w the smaller back seat. Pulls 5th wheel, weighs 8900 dry weight so he's prolly 9800 lbs ish towing that camper

I've always thought that Tundras are the most bipolar trucks aesthetically that I've ever seen.

I'll see a couple on the road that are beyond hideous (I think their extended cab looks ridiculous), but later I'll see a crewmax that's one of the best looking trucks I've ever seen. It just varies.

However, I was thinking about either Tundra or F150 in my truck search, but I can't justify paying as much or more for a fairly stripped down SR5 with bad gas mileage than I would for a similar year model King Ranch with all the bells and whistles and better gas mileage.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Tundra and admire Toyota's track record with trucks, but the interior was a huge turnoff.

Sounds like a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a small utility trailer could have worked well for you.

I made the jump after 20 years of pickup driving two years ago and don't regret it at all. I also have the flexibility of borrowing another pickup in our fleet on a spot basis which I have done exactly twice over two years. I could go to Enterprise every month and rent a pickup for the weekend with what I save in gas alone and I'm more comfortable driving in the Jeep.

Just a thought.
