So much potential, but they will still be Nissans.

Yeah, I'd never leave Toyota quality for Nissan absence of quality. Their cars from recent years have garbage reliability. Their new truck may be better, but I'm not willing to take that chance when I know their cars are not up to the Toyota standard.
The Tundra is butt-ugly and gets poor mileage but it lasts forever and you can get a naturally aspirated (no turbo system to eventually foul-up like Ford) motor with 400 torque and 4.30 (!!!) gears in the standard, cloth seat trim (unlike Chevy & GMC, where you have to get the top-level trim with leather and all sorts of fancypants doo-dads in order to option the 6.2 - otherwise, you are stuck with the puny 5.3, which is way behind on power).
I'd replace my '08 Tundra with the beautiful '16 GMC Sierra if I could get a 6.2 without having to buy a luxury trim. For the same price as the luxury trim 1500 with 6.2 you can get a 2500, but THAT has the old as dirt 6.0. I don't want a diesel because all of the complex smog equipment they have now is a maintenance and reliability headache. I wish GM's engine options made buying their trucks possible for me because Toyota doesn't seem like they'll ever put out a new Tundra. Until they do, I'll just keep driving the old Tundra.

That puny 5.3 is rated at 355 hp and 383 tq...which is only 26 hp and 18 tq less than the mighty Toyota 5.7, FYI.

"If you put the Tundra and Titan side by side, and they were the same price, which one would you want to drive home?"

I love my 08 Tundra--180,000 miles thus far and no repairs.
Hate Supreme Toyota and if they are they are still the dealer in Hammond when I buy another I will go back to Ford. I had two visits to Supreme's parts and/or service for a radio upgrade once and an oil change another and they attempted to screw me both trips. (The oil change was simply the first change that at the time they gave away free after the sale. With 5000 miles on the truck they tried to sell me a whole list of service things.) Second trip was to get a XM radio. Parts sent me to service and they wanted $45 to quote me saying they would have to take the dash off to get the model number. WHAT A CROCK?
Haven't been back. I even let my recalls pile up and took it into Covington to get the recalls done. I would not trust Supreme to open the hood so to buy a brand that depends on their service if I am not to be inconvenienced is not in the books for me.
There is not enough quality difference between, if any, between Ford and Toyota for me to buy one over the other regardless of the dealer.

That's 7.3% less, despite being 10 years newer. Pretty bad.
And the gearing is MUCH less.
I've driven a 2015 Silverado with the 5.3 and the biggest gears available. The difference is very noticeable. The Tundra feels like a hot rod with the 5.7 and 4.30s compared to a Silverado/Sierra.
Plus, that 5.3 has cylinder deactivation, which I don't trust for the sake of reliability, and GM torque management, which just suffocates any "oomph" the engine does have.
Drive a Tundra. You'll feel the difference that 26 more horsepower, freedom from GMs torque management, and those big gears makes. It's very hard to go back, even though the look of the vehicle itself is bad and the interior is totally outdated.

FIFY.
Trust me, you won't notice the hp. Mate both motors to the same trans and rear gear and you may feel the lower end tq of the Tundra due to a DOHC motor...that's about it. I promise you a 5.3 GM can do everything a 5.7 Tundra can and vice versa.

That and the 5.3's are incredibly abuse tolerant. I've seen junkyard 4.8's and 5.3's hotrodded to power levels that would have the 5.7 puke connecting rods. Then there's aftermarket support and tuning, doesn't take much to remove the AFM and torque management.

Agreed. I've seen some single turbo 4.8's on stock bottom ends make some serious power. No doubt the LS can handle abuse and has a massive aftermarket.

Why should consumers have to spend extra money to get a custom tune or buy a tuner and void their warranty when there are manufacturers (Toyota) making vehicles that aren't burdened by that garbage in the first place? That's not even to mention that you are still left with having to guess how much tq mgmt to take off, because I've read it's not a good idea to remove it all.
Don't get me wrong, Toyota makes me pretty mad for pretty much refusing to ever come out with a new Tundra, taking 10 years to get a decent sized fuel tank on the one they make, having such a tiny bed on the Crew Cab with no longer option, having an 8 speed for the same engine in the Land Cruiser but not offering it in the Tundra, and having an optional e locker for the Tacoma but not the Tundra... but GM, which made the 4 prior trucks I have owned, makes it darn hard to ever come home when you have to get an LTZ or Denali to get a 6.2 even if all you want is cloth seats and basic convenience options, plus their lack of 4.10s as an option in 1500s, beyond-stupid AFM, and heavy-handed torque management that strangles the driving experience.
