That is the prime scenario that the ones that are excited are the parents. And if poor ole Lex is not good he will be riding pine. And then the parents will start bitching at the coach because little Lex is not getting much playing time. Years ago I was coaching a little machine pitch team for the school where my son went to elementary school. The rules stated that every kid had to play some in the field. I would always put this one kid at catcher (the catcher just stood off to the side and collected the ball’s and put them in a bucket and bring them back to the pitcher). His mama would bitch at me every game about putting him somewhere else on the field. I always told her that it was for his safety. Well the last game of the season I put him at second base. A pop up was hit to him and he put his glove up to catch it and the ball went right over his glove and broke his nose. I tried to protect him but parents think they’re kid is the greatest player on the team

Travel ball has become an absolute white trash watering hole in the middle of the Serengeti trailer park.
I’m so glad my son is old enough for just high school ball only now. Travel ball was necessary when he was in middle school due to limited school games and the local park ball competition. Thank God we are out of that now.
I bet a dime to a donut he has a tattoo on the side of his leg as well.
